that squeaking noise drives me crazy.

I realize this is "normal" for 335i's but it gets to me and makes me feel embarassed. When im driving such a nice car yet it squeaks when im taking off. sometimes i accelerate hard just to avoid hearing that awful noise.
I try hard breaks but that only sometimes fixes the problem.
What on earth can I do to fix this problem guys?

BMW seriously needs to address this problem.

yes if im going below 5-10 km an hour it wills squeak slightly.
makes me want to jump off a bridge.

He's referring to when you accelerate, the rear brakes squeak until about 20 MPH and goes away when the brakes are pressed.

My 07 had a lot of brake squeal/squeak. My '11 is much better. Maybe they have changed the pad material?

The best thing to do is figure out what wheel(s) the squeeking noise is coming from. Then check and feel around to see if that brake dust shield behind the rotor is actually touching or close enough to rub/contact the rotor. If that's the case, push hard enough to bend it away. If that's not it, check your break pad wear sensor. It could be rubbing, but I doubt that's it. I've dislocated both of mine and zip tied them to internal stuff while trouble shooting. That wasn't it either for me. Then check your pads. Remove them and apply some good anti-squeel paste, like the CRC stuff that is reddish-orange in color. That fixed my problem. The next thing to check is if it's the rear wheels... remove the rotor and inspect the parking brake shoes and contact points. There may be rust and corrosion that you can clean up a bit and then adjust the parking brake while you're at it. After cleaning and taking care of all that stuff, then your pads are just squeeky. Maybe they're high performance race pads, above and beyond the OEM pads. It could also be that they need a proper bedding in. It's never too late to bed your brakes in properly. Another thing that could happen is some debris could get stuck between your pad an rotor. If you've removed your pads for inspection and wiped/brushed everything off the rotor and pad surface, that may fix the problem. Otherwise, I've read that you can try driving in reverse at at least 20mph or so and hitting the brakes hard (not to a complete stop) several times. That could break free rocks or debris that might be causing an annoying squeek.

If none of that solves the problem, then I guess you'll just have to live with it. It's usually something simple though... unless it's a wheel bearing, then you're looking at some money and labor.

I just got mine back from the dealer two days ago for this problem. They replaced everything to do with the rear brakes (including e-brake parts).

No noise so far! All covered under warranty too.

It's only covered if you still have the new car warranty. It's not covered under the CPO warranty. I already &*^%$# out my SA and BMW NA.

I've had this problem ever since I got my car. Exact same problem as you, when you accelerate from a stop from about 5-20mph I get squeaking. When I first brought it up, they replaced my rear pads, rotors, and pad sensor. It went away. After about 2 months it came back. I've been wanting to put that disc brake quiet stuff but I just don't have the tools to do so. So I've just dealt with it.

I had/have this too, today I did a 4 wheel alignment and haven't heard the squeal today...maybe a coincidence but I'm really hoping that the alignment did the trick, otherwise I think that the fix in the posted link is most likely to work.

Hi, i have this squeezing noise problem only after driving fast for some time and then drive at low speeds. I am not sure it's from the brakes because my 335 is manual and when I only hear it when i have some gear - usually 1st or 2nd- (no noise in the neutral when the car just rolls). It could be something from the differential ? Also, the noise is becoming more intense as time passes. My warranty extension expires in October and I think I have to take it to the dealer again... Last time I took it they told me there was nothing ubnormal.... But of course there is... Any other ideas?

technically if it's the rear brakes it's NOT covered under any warranty (imho it should be covered under the adjustment warranty, i.e. even an alignment is covered at the very beginning). BUT, most dealerships will address it internally, as it's simply their labor. i.e, BMW will NOT reimburse them to adjust the brakes.

The longer I have the car, the more the fronts still have lots of life left (if you add the CBS to the odometer, the fronts seem to last in excess of 70k), yet the rears have only 16k left (to the fronts 42k). To contrast, on my Nissan which is also a stick, the rears lasted 90k the first time I did the brakes. Rears should not be wearing out faster than the fronts, but who knows with DTC etc.

At some point I will give in and replace the pads prematurely, to get rid of the noise.

My cars warranty expired in April. I only have the CPO warranty now.
