And where should he stop his cruiser according to you? He is in the proper lane for what occurred and without question the emergency lights are activated. Traffic should be at a near standstill after what transpired there, as such it would be moving extremely slowly on the far right hand lane.

I got pulled over for 155 in a 55 when I was young and stupid. I don't know why people are talking about number of points, get a lawyer, etc. Do you know from experience that "it will be ok" if you drive those speeds? Because I did it in NYS. And believe me when I say, you're not going to worry about how many points nor insurance rates.

Congrats on getting the large tickets dropped, and yes everyone is being hypocritical when they say don't speed. You were alone on the road, only person you were endangering is yourself which you are responsible for. No harm in my eyes really. If you were on a crowded highway I see a problem, but a deserted highway at 2am is a big difference.
