HELP!! DSC, RF, flickering xenons, random wipers, radio cutting out
Hi all,
first post here. I'm getting some weird problems on my 2006 330d M-sport (auto). First the ABS and DSC warnings start coming on, then the go. Then the Run Flat warning comes on and goes (no need to reset as its not listed) Yesterday the headlights started flickering and the radio cut out for a few seconds. Today it happened again and the wipers came on for a while (they were definately switched off) Have been to a "BMW specialist" who couldn't find anything wrong, even when the warning lights were on. Gonna have to go to a dealer, just preparing myself for a massive bill!!! Has anyone had simliar issues? DSC and ABS and Run flat warnings point to a faulty sensor/DSC control unit but what about the lights, radio and wipers? Could it be a fuse issue? Thanks in advance! |

I guess you have checked the obvious things like battery connection, earth straps, etc??

Also battery voltage falling, charging fault could cause this or knackered battery

This kind of thing happens when your battery is on it's way out too so if it persists after you've checked all your connections then the battery itself is the likely culprit.
My cousins E60 had similar issues, battery was changed (after checking terminals etc) and it solved it. |

Glad that one is sorted.
Agree on teh dodgy battery, when i bought awesomeclio.com I got a bargain because of electrical problems with EVERYTHING that they couldnt fix. A quick trip to halfords in Stevenage on my drive home for a battery change fixed every single one. I was happy right there. I can only imagine with the amount of crazy electonics in a BeeEmm that it would shart its brocwurst knickers off with a dying battery. Should also be the first port of call after such brutally cold weather to be honest. Alot of friends in work have had the same issues with other non-BMW cars....batterys sorted them 9/10 times. J |

My e36 coupe did strange electrical things due to a common wiring fault between the bootlid and body - the wires just broke and shorted against each other. Hopefully the e92 won't suffer this as well!

Right, its taken a while but I believe the issue if fixed.
My garage found that the battery wasn't "seated" correctly, it had the positive red cable running underneath the battery, folding back on itself to connect to the battery. The cable was slightly damaged but he said it should be ok as it wasn't torn, it just had a little fold/dent. He removed the battery and all connections and re-seated it correctly without any wires running underneath it and just made sure all of the connections were tight. 3 weeks and no issue, I hope it continues! |
