Good radar detector?
I want to invest in a radar detector but there are so many out there I dont know a good one to choose. I really dont want to pay over $400 for one but i also dont want to buy a cheap one. Any suggestions would be great. Sorry if this is in the wrong section.
Thanks, |

I refuse to drive without my V1 in the car. The range at which it has picked up some cops is unbelievable. To give you an idea, I've driven on dead straight and level roads (this probably helped a lot) where it has picked up the K-band radar signs that construction sites use to tell you your speed at over 3 miles.

The V1 is good for Radar but not so great for Laser. For Laser defense you really need jammers (assuming they are legal in your state). Laser Veil coating is also a good countermeasure.
The V1 arrows are a great feature and very useful although I have heard that the pattent is running out next year and other manufactures may incorporate arrows, The V1 is no longer the most sensitive unit available as the new Escort Red LIne outperforms it and has the advantage of being invisible to all radar detector detectors. The V1 has been around forever and it has taken years for the other manufacturers to catch up with them. V1 also has an upgrade program so that as the design is refined you can send it back ti upgraded to the new features, CA

I've been real happy with the Escort 9500ix. Love the GPS and locking out of false signals. If the thing goes off in the normal areas I travel it is 100% a police officer.
More laser is being used where I live, so I ordered some Laser Interceptor jammers today and hope to put them on in the next couple of weeks. I'm not a big speeder, it's makes driving more fun to have counter measures at the ready. |

I'm very happy with the v1. The arrows definitely sold me on it.

Since you are from maryland you will enjoy these pics. The first one is one mile from my house. All three pics were in the frederick news post within the last 5 days. Makes me nervous since I don't think I have ever seen a laser gun in action around me. I can't be thinking I am covered with just the radar detector any more.
Looks like they love the Pro Laser III: |

I used a escort 8500 x50 for 3 years and a V1 for a few weeks now. I am definitely liking the arrows on the V1.. but you can't go wrong with either one.
