PSI: What are the other recommended services or items that make sense to get accomplished while you have the cover off during the blast service?

The cut off is the end of February. And we can absolutely take care of that for you.

I'll reply to this question a little more in depth later on today. I'll get all the info I can from my lead tech, David.

So I spoke to David, my lead tech, he mentioned the oil filter stand gasket as those are known to have issues with them. But with that process the car does require an oil change.

If you have any charge pipes or diverter valves, that's also a good time to do it as the charge pipe has to be taken off to do the walnut blasting.

I'll see if there's anything else we can come up with.

PSI: Can you please explain the process to me. Are both the exhaust and intake manifolds removed for this procedure or just exhaust? What happens to the material that is blasted off the valves that falls down into the cylinders?

The process involves the cleaning on the intake valves only. The exhaust side of the cylinder head is not touched. We remove the intake manifold, and clean the intake port and intake valves that get quite dirty on direct injection engines. When each individual port is cleaned, we turn the engine over so that that particular cylinder has the intake valves closed. This greatly reduces the chance of any material getting in to the cylinder during the cleaning process.

"reduces the chances"

Question about that. What happens if material does get in?

We use walnut shell as our blasting media, which is not extremely abrasive. It can clean the aluminum head without damaging it, and breaks down very easily. If some of the walnut shell were to get in to the combustion chamber, there would be no damage at all. The walnut media is no more of a threat than the oil buildup/debris that already exists in most N54 cylinder head ports.

$424 via PayPal to PSI. Only if there are 10 people though.

Currently we are at 9. If you join us, we all get locked-in at $424. If not we get refunds.

So... what do you think
