Seatbelt butlers rattle - can they be fixed?
It seems a lot of the interior rattles I have are coming from the seatbelt butlers (or whatever is the cool term to call them currently).
The both operate fine, with my driver side giving me the belt a good 90% of the time, passenger side handing it off maybe 40% of the time. Would swapping in a new one eliminate the rattle? I realize these cars rattle more than they should, but mine isn't a bad example at all (I rode in a buddy's '11 335is with 1/4 the mileage and it rattled as much as mine). I just did a 2 hour drive in my wife's B7 A4 which made me realize how much my car rattles in comparison. FYI, I like having the butlers, so I have no interest in eliminating them (which I assume most just code them out, which would do nothing for the rattling anyway). |

Same. I pulled the fuse to the seat belt butlers 4 years ago and it was the best safety mod I've ever done to the car
But seriously, just kill those things and don't even use them. They're a horrible design. |

Again, mine work fine. They rattle when NOT IN USE. How is pulling the fuse or coding them out going to fix that?
Everyone is suggesting I stop using something that works and I like even though that suggestion does nothing to resolve the problem I am having. Brilliant. |

I love my seat belt butler and so do my passengers. They think it's the "neatest" thing. As for the rattling, try rapping a thin piece of felt around it to see if it helps. Thin enough that it will still slide back in it's slot.

Where do u hear the rattling from? The arm part of the assembly that pushes the seat belt or from somewhere inside the panel. I don't get any rattling sounds on mine but I do get some rattle from the cup holders closed or open

Was this ever resolved?...just bought an 09 plate E92 and am loving the quality over my previous car (Ford Focus) but the passenger side is exhibiting a plasticky rattle around the seat belt butler area...

My seatbelt thingies have always worked 100%
But my driver one started to rattle just recently. I have no other rattles in the car but now this seatbelt arm is rattling right in my ear. Pulling fuse isn't going to help that.
