No, but in my case imagine what it would sound like if the window was rattling around in the frame. Not a squeak, more of a knocking sound. Cleaning the top strip and squirting some Carbaflo, all gone.

Aghh, now I understand that explanation.

Yes, would be rather annoying and once heard, something you can't help but focus on.

Glad you've sorted it.

Washed all the rubbers - the ones around the door openings as well as the ones on the door.

Clean thoroughly and dry with a clean cloth/towel - all creaking should be gone!!

If you wipe the door shuts clean after washing, make sure you use a clean cloth, I think I made mine start creaking by wiping the door shuts with the same cloth I used to polish off the Meg's Quik detailer spray?

Seems any kind of silicone/lube near the seals causes 'squeaks'. Mine had them when i took delivery fromthe dealer, took it back and they 'fixed' it but have not used anything other than water inside the door frames.

Just thought I'd revive this one. My seals/rubbers are still creaking/squeaking after trying just about every solution known to man. I originally posted about it here. That thread linked to this one and I've just spoken to Sytner Parts and they confirm that 8319 9408523 is what they use for sorting the problem. Only trouble is it's 35 quid

:edit:

Thought I'd be a bit clever and get a price from an 'inferior' brand. So I phoned Volkswagen It's all rebranded DuPont stuff anyway. Nearly 60 quid! And the local Skoda dealer the same!

Oh dear. Mine was in at the body shop to sort a tiny chip that was on the boot lid when I picked it up (we're taking about 1mm^2 but they said they'd respray the whole lid to factory standard so I thought what the heck). Anyway, they obviously washed the car and ever since, both front doors (not sat in the back to see) seem to have a little knock. I wouldn't say it's a squeek, more like an intermittent knock. Right up at the top by my right ear. Is this the type of thing caused by the silicone cleaners? If so, I'm going to take it in and get BMW to sort it out. Not paying £35! I might be cheeky and ask them to throw in a can of this £35 stuff - it'll save them money in the long-run as I won't need to keep booking the car in 2 weeks after it's been in for service!

Rich - yours is brand new too isn't it? Just get it booked in?

I have read all the discussions in this thread and still can't figure the right solution, so here are my questions:

@M3-FAST: After you started washing the door rubbers with warm water and some Fairy, how long did it took for the door rubbers to stop squeaking? Have you washed them several times or did they stop squeaking immediately?

@Boyd1963: You said you did your "top strip" with Gummi Pfledge. What EXACTLY do you mean by "top strip"? A picture would worth more than a thousand words.

Please answer to my questions as I hate this squeaking sound
It all started after applying Sonax Gummi Pfledger on them couple of months ago. I tried to fix it using a siliconic gel (now that was a mistake...) and, after that, some talcum powder, but with no effect. Then again used the Sonax. Squeaks still here!
Please help!

The vertical strip with the red circle on it is what you need to concentrate on. Also make sure that you clean the paint that it touches on the bodywork. Remove any wax from it.

A MILLION THANKS to Boyd1963.

Any squeaks should be gone if you do what he said in his last posts!
It sure worked for me!

I've been searching for a solution on many forums, but never found anything about focusing on that strip.
I have a new BMW again!

Cheers!

You're very welcome. Another forum member told me about this so I can't take any credit.

Finally got round to sorting my door creak/squeak. As sugested I used Carbaflo KSP 105 bought from BMW - part 83 23 0 309 627 - £25 ( ). Only used it on the furry strip at the top of the doors as shown in the pic above and so far it has done the trick and the car is nice and quiet again.

Ive tried a few different products (inc Autoglym Vinyl & rubber cleaner) to stop my E91 creaking to no avail. But reading this thread made me realise I was attacking the wrong part; the main soft rubber seals (green arrows) on the door and body, when in fact the problem appears to be with outer discontinuous seals (red arrows)

I went out this morning and cleaned all these outer seals with a strong-ish mix of washing up liquid in hot water using a sponge and soft nail brush. I was careful with the felt bits. Then wiped dry immediately with a clean microfibre towel. I didnt go near the main seals (green arrows) at all.

Hey presto absolutely no creaks or squeaks all day. The car has not been this quiet for months.

I cant believe Ive wasted so much effort in cleaning the wrong bits with the wrong product.

Thank you

We'll just have to see wont we, but its the only thing that has worked so far.

Why is it that BMW cant design a simple door seal - Ive never had a car like it.

Sorry, didn't mean to sound flippant. Just that I've been there, bought the t-shirt. And there are so many of these squeaky door seal threads I'm probably repeating myself or telling you something you already know.

In my opinion it is bad design on BMWs part but it's not limited to BMW. My A3 had the same door/window frame set up as the E9x and that squeaked too. I'm convinced it's something to do with whatever products are used to clean the car and these contaminate the seals. I tried degreasing just like you as it made perfect sense to remove anything previously applied or used to clean the bodywork. The noise returned though after a week or so (warm weather makes it worse) and in the end it was only the genuine BMW stuff that solved it by applying to the felt areas only. I can now go 12 months with no noise.

If you do get the BMW product it's 83 19 9 408 523 Spezial-Gleitmittel fur Turdichtungen or Special Lubricant for Door Seals. It's also very sticky and I've just got it all over my keyboard. You're welcome to try it if you're ever in Sheffield. I've also sent this stuff to a member based in Malta and also answered a query about it from a US member the other day.
