You would be able to connect even with pre-v40 files. You would just get errors in the car after coding.

Sounds like a cable or software setup issue.

Hmm...If a cable works for a 2007-2009, and not for a 2011, that would rule out the software correct? Does a 2011 require a different cable to read the ECU modules, like a modified pin 8 on the D-can cable?? Cable is working fine for 2007-2009 and when we connected to his 2011 there was an error of faulty vin oo r something, he is going post what the actual error on NCS is
What do you think???

2006-2007.5ish is different than 2007.5ish+

2006-2007.5ish requires one cable while the newer years are the other.

When I say "ish" it is because my personal car requires me to use the adaptor I have for my cable, where on the other hand I have had newer 2007 customer cars not require it.

When you say cable doesn't connect to car it gave me the impression you weren't getting an INPA ignition status. cn555ic cleared it up a little more.

Are you getting ECU Response Error? If so its a cable issue most likely. Upgrading daten couldn't hurt while you're at it. PMing you OP

Yeah the thing is the cable and laptop worked flawlessly on 2007-2010. When we tried to choose the CAS module at the very beginning after choosing the chasis, it gives this Vin faulty and we can't procede any further. I just realized the N55 has a JB4 chip in it and it wasnt set to valet. Could this be an issue?

The cable works perfect so cable cannot be the issue as it reads and codes 2007-2010 without incident or errors. We used my computer setup which is proven to work, but not on his car...Any thoughts Grant???

Yes...you need to set the tune off.

Software should be fine..cable or the tune is causing the problem.

Yeah I told him to try it out with JB4 set to valet and check his drivers for his cable...Then again it cant be the drivers as we used my computer with my cable thats proven for connection, so it all boils down to JB4...He will let me know tomorrow how it goes.

Yes the JB4 ABSOLUTELY needs to be turned off (Map 0, Valet, etc).

Confirmed. It was indeed the JB4 tune causing INPA and NCS not to work. At least now I know and it's not my software!

Just for clarification.....the OBDII interface changed in March '07. I forget which one superseded the other, D or K can. But I'm positive the change happened in MaArch '07.

I modified my D-can cable to work with 2006 and earlier models..
Earlier models needs pin 7 and 8 to be bridged so I added a switch to make it happen, that way I have one cable that can work for both..

That's pretty dope. I wish I knew that before buying my cable. Although, I only spent $40 on mine

Anyway, I would love if I could also have a all-in-one cable for an ADS interface. I have a '95 m3 that I've been trying to connect to with INPA but it looks like I need to fork out $100 or so to get an ADS interface :/

So what kind of switch did you add in there?

Its a on/off switch with 3 prongs....I bought it from Radio Shack for like 2.99 or something like that. Just connect the middle wire and one of the ends leaving one open and not connected...From those two wire just connect one to pin 7 and the other wire to pin 8. When the switch is on it will bridge the 7 and 8 pin making it compatible with 2006 and older. When the switch is off, the pins are not connected and will be back to normal which is compatible with 3/2007 and up...Drill a large enough hole into the D-can cable cover on the side for the switch head to move freely from one side to another, use a glue stick to secure it in place and your done!
