Stock 458s run 10.9-11.0 @ 130mph. GTRs dont come anything close to that trap in stock form.

Its so hard to tell though, as there were no instrumented way to judge speeds. Would have been cool to have some kind of laser/radar speed displayed on a board at the finish line.

Just wanted to thank all you guys for coming out and contributing to a great event. It was awesome meeting and hanging out with many of you. Shiv, like I said, very sweet how well your car was running. Everyone was friendly and some insane races went down.

We'll probably start another thread with the results but in summary, all the stock turbo/meth 335's and Drew's SRT4 were literally within a few feet of each other at the finish line, assuming a clean run - except Terry's 135 which was a bit faster than the rest of the group I think.
We also did very well against the competition. I ran neck and neck with an ESS 525 (non-intercooled) supercharged e92 M3 down the entire track and it was a dead tie. Drew's SRT4 ran it as well and beat it by a few feet and Drew also beat a supercharged M6. Shiv's car? A new standard had been set. Big thanks to Ryan and the rest of the Shift-S3ctor team for putting on such an amazing event!

This event was a huge success. I had the pleasure of running some great cars but wish I had 3-4 more runs because there was just SOOO much competition out there.
My only losses were to Terry's 135 (he got the jump on me and I couldn't catch up) and an Alpha 6 GTR. I lost those races by about the same amount (4-5 cars probably). I wanted to get the jump on the GTR but was too man enough and just went at him heads up. If I got the jump or if we went from a 60 roll I think I could have held him off, which is saying a lot considering they put down ~530/600. Highlights of the day....beating a SC M3, SC M6, and getting props from the owner of a Switzer GTR E900 Last edited by Stage 2 Drew; 02-26-2012 at 10:30 AM.. |

I think you are pretty accurate with your observations. Terry's car was the fastest stock turbo N54. I rode up in the white C63. That thing is very fast. I was actually having doubts that Terry would beat it. But kind of reflects the Famoso results. Both cars are fast, with Terry's probably edging it out in the end. I think Dave also did well with his full weight JB4/Meth 335i coupe. Also definitely need clarify some of the other misinformation: Terry DID NOT trailer his car there...lol. His car is perfectly civilized and streetable less the passenger seats..but on the other hand, still ran with the restrictive catback. I thought the ZR1 edged out the 458, unless they ran a couple times. Was there more than one SRT10? Didn't see them race, but if the 458 beat a 1000hp Heffner TT Viper, the Viper did not make a clean run obviously, lol. Terry was NOT hitting 140mph at the cones, he was going over 150mph through the cones. There were 458s at both of the private track rentals I went to, they are quick off the line, but by the end of the qtr mile, at Famoso they were trapping in the 126-127mph range. So probably 2 mph faster than my best 125.4mph effort at Famoso in Terry's car and 2mph slower than my fastest 129.x mph effort in my sedan. Being NA they are probably hurt even more by the elevation at Trona. Also, Stage 2 Drew...I think I saw you beat the white Z28, correct? Gotta love beating a loud V8 musclecar. Do you know what mods he had? Your results against Terry's car was expected. Ran a 11.2 at Famoso the other weekend, with traps as high as 125.4mph. Awesome to see your car run!

Terrific meeting you as well! It would have been great to see your old 335 in action against the competition as well. I didn't run the GIAC S4 but I'm sure some of the other 335's did. Do you know what the results were?

We did extensive testing on both Terry's and my 335i, same conditions, same road, same Vbox. Comparatively speaking, in general, my fastest times were faster than his in the 60-130 and qtr mile traps. He hit 125.x mph, I hit 126 as my fastest. His best 60-130 was 8.59 vs my 8.39 (with no dryshot) So pretty evenly matched cars. Funny enough, on the road, the LSD didn't seem to do anything with helping his 60' times. But on the drag strip, with evenly warmed up tires, the 1.690 60' time the 135i got was not attainable by my 335i. If it was, I would already have produced a handful of 10 second runs in the sedan. I think part of the reason for these results is the 335i was more aerodynamic than the 135i, and the 335i has a less restrictive dual exhaust system compared to Terry's single stock catback. Either way, Terry's car ran flawlessly. If you are going by the speedometer, Terry was seeing close to 160mph at the cones, definitely not 140mph.

That's white car I beat was the ESS M3...Terry started about 1 car ahead of me when we went from 50mph and his initial jump is what allowed him to stay ahead.
Hotrod did we meet, I can't remember LOL |

The car I saw beating the Z28 must have been the white Integra. What do you know about that car, it was running against some pretty fast cars I believe?

He probably has better suspension mods and some other minor things....and he was powershifting which does A LOT on our cars and I just shift normally which really hurts my times. Tell Terry to send me my 60-130 runs, he let me borrow it one time. |
