which Sat NAV disc to go for?
I have a 55 e90 with iDrive. It has DVD disc down the bottom of the centre console.
Can someone advise of an update disc that is suitable for the version I have? http://www.satnavi.com/bm--1-3-5-7-series-x5-x3-x6.php Any better alternatives to the satnavi ones? Cheers |

Can't vouch for the company that you have linked. However,I've used this company without any issue.Whatever you buy though, you still won't get 7 digit postcode search, unfortunately.

The prices shown in the link are loads cheaper than what BMW want to charge for updated discs. Is there a way I can check what year of disc I have?? I've not long had the car so am unsure if previous owner had bought updated disc.
Also read that non genuine discs can burn out the laser, is there any truth in that?? |

Hi mate - let me know how you do that? It's not that obvious (typically)..
How can a disc burn out the player laser? If anything it would be the other way round.. And that's impossible as the unit is a reader.. The laser reads very small lumps and bumps within the disc sends the read data back to its decoder. It either reads or doesn't..or if the disc is damaged will intermittently work. I've never heard of a DVD laser being burnt out... Motors powering the laser arm and spinner yes, but not the laser. |

This is how you get the speed cams up. Yet to try, instructions came from the seller:
Displaying Speed Cameras Method 1. 1 Select Navigation from the iDrive menu. 2 Select any location in the List of Destinations 3 Click the iDrive to display Information on that Destination. 4. Locate the UK or EU Speed cameras entries under the car folder 1 Click Start search if required by using an appropriate Max Distance setting. Don’t add any Name. A list of all the speed cameras will be displayed and speed camera icons will appear on the map. 2 Go back to map screen and using the icons displayed down the left hand side chose the ‘i’ to display Method 2 (Easier but only possible from CIP 24 onwards) 1 Select Navigation from the iDrive menu 2 Select Information menu from the Top menu bar. 3 Choose the “On Location” option 4 Follow instructions from 4 as in Method 1. |
