Serjames' new 335i Conv

Well, what can I say...

An absolutely stunning car...

More pleased with it than I thought I'd be, which is saying something.

It's also FASTER than I thought it would be which is saying something else !!

Finish and fit are nigh on perfect, best I've ever seen. BMW quality DOES exist.

It was completely Filthy, I mean Sahara brown dirty, when I picked it up, so it's been a bit weird driving arond in it so dirty, but BMW followed my instructions to the 'T' and it still had all the delivery stickers, markings, writing on the windows and everything. Anyway it pissed it down the moment I got the keys in my hands.

Got some very weird looks driving around cobham with all this stuff on (even has the big white door protectors that are stuck to the endge of the doors.

I have Carvalet.co.uk coming at 0730 tomrrow morning to clay it back and Swissol (I can't spell swissvax?!) it, followed by a lifeshine seal. So pics will have to wait I'm afraid. Even then, it's probably gonna rain here, so not sure what will be achievable.

Either way looking forward to putting it through it's paces over the weekend.

Only niggle so far is that the cat has managed to get stuck between the passenger door and the seat, paniced scratching my leather (DOH!)

And for the life of me I cannot understand why they don't offer a search function on the 6FL interface screen, do you know how difficult it is to scroll through 140gb of mp3s !

Anyway, I'm waiting for the Connected drive paperwork before I can test the online features and tonight I'm going to bed with the manual (not like I have any better offers!)

So thanks for your patience and allowing me to learn as much as I have from you - and for sharing my excitement...

Happy SJ

Spooky, I was looking at their site the other day.

Could I politely ask the knighted one (serjames) how much they are charging for their services, as I'm considering doing the same & not going with the Supaguard that the crooks want 250 greenbacks for.

Cheers muchly

Well at the end of the day any "sealant" treatment like supaguard or Lifeshine is just a thin homogenous layer of polymer.

They differ I think little in their individual properties, and in No respect are they good for 3 years or 10 years or whatever bollocks they spout.

But they will protect against atmospheric contaminants and mud, dirt etc. note NOT bird shit).

The difference with carvalet.co.uk, over say the dealer doing it, is that they will prep the car properly first, i.e. clean, clay, prep, wax and THEN seal

They are charging me 260. Expensive, but i just dropped a considerably larger amount on the car so Worth it in my eyes.

I've seen these guys in action and they ARE detailing fanatics. It will probably take 5-6 hours.

I will let you know how I feel afterwards.

Cheers for the response.

£260 for 5-6 hrs of honest graft v £250 for 1.5hrs of a no doubt sloppy attempt from the car cleaner at the local dealer?

No brainer in my book and given the tenner difference a good call, will look forward to seeing the pics and reading what your thoughts are.

Congrats .... need pics ....

I've used swissöl for about 7 years now. Just running out of my wax now, need to buy a new tub (they used to be around the corner from me). Works out good value. Came as a kit with clay bar, prep etc. Kept my last car looking like new. Good protection.

Good to see you tucking up in bed with the manual. A certain other chap around here still hasn't read his I found there are lots of little features explained in the manual that you might miss otherwise.

You must be cornering too hard to throw your pussy down the side of the seat

Well, they're hard at work as I speak. Turned up on the dot at 0730.

They are busily showing me all the paint defects and scratches already present on my 24 hour car. Grrr.

Kinda wish they weren't but to be honest They are in the main invisible to the naked eye unless you look for em, so no calls to BMW yet.

They're busy trying to sell me the interior Lifeshine pack which at an extra 100 quid DOES seem steep, any one got any experience with Scotch guard or the stuff that Supa guard use ?

is this worth it, remembering I Don't EVER take liquids, tobacco, food etc in my cars ? - and this ISN't my daily drive ?

I think from your last statement (which is nearly true for me - except the food bit), I would probably not bother to be honest. Remember some pics when they have finished!!

lol FTM very good.

Ok so am eying the sky HOPING it won't rain before a camera becomes available.

Trouble with the car is that EVERYONE wants to race it, which I never got with the Z.

Bigger trouble is I'm happy to oblige and apart from a HOT R32, that must be on steroids I'm so far 'In the lead' - so to speak.

SJ

p.s. just been head banging to a Logic 7 rendition of C64 medley & Bohemian Rhapsody !

Rock on.... excellent

I didn't think the C64 Medley was so popular!

Looking forward to Bo-Rap, UK4 style!
