TPM Malfunction
Yesterday I got into my car after work and had a "TPM Malfunction" light. I suspect it might have something to do with the weather as the temperature dropped from low 70's the day before to low 30's (although I didn't have a malfunction light in the morning on my way to work). Also it's not a low pressure warning, but rather a not functional error, so I'm not sure. I tried resetting but it it sat there for at least 5 mins attempting to reset but nothing ever happened. I was hoping it was something that would go away on it's own but no such lick, this morning on my way into work I had the same error (also it got colder and snowed over night....stupid snow).
Do I need new sensors, or is there something else that could be causing this? Edit: It's a 2007 that I've owned for just over a week now. |

So my car had the same problem a few weeks ago. I went to tire rack and they checked all my wheel sensors and said they were fine. So I ran the codes with the bt tool and found out that the rdc transmitter (which sits inside each wheel liner and transmits to a central module located In the trunk) was malfunctioning, which throws the entire system off. Went to the dealer and got a $600 estimate. The part online is $70 and will take 10 minutes. Just jack up the car, unscrew the screws holding the wheel liner in place and pop in the new transmitter. I can send pics if this ends up being th problem. If you don't have a bt tool, Midas used to check my codes for free. Hope this helps

Well today is again cold and the Tpm malfunction light is now coming and going intermittently.

Will a generic obd cable read the code? I have that but nothing specific like a Bavarian technical cable. |
