Screen Freeze while updating Navi Maps

I have a 2009 build and have never updated my maps before. I tried doing so today by downloading the latest 2014 maps onto a USB and plugged it into the glove compartment area. For some reason the system detected that I had a Navi update available but when I hit "Start Update" it brought me to the screen below where it just stayed loading that way. Has anyone ever experienced this issue? It didn't even prompt me to enter my FSC code yet. I have heard some 2009 build requires a software update before being able to update the Navi map. Is this the symptom?

Are you able to check what version of software you have on your iDrive? I have a 2009 with software updated and didn't have any issues.

is there a way to check my software? Not sure how to do that.

Either go ask the dealer or do you have the coding cable? I was able to check using the coding cable.

its a 3 part usb, not all maps on 1 usb drive!
thats the issue here i bet

Do you mean I have to put the map in 3 separate usb drives and load it that way?

you can use one diver but it will take longer to do, but yes that exactly what im saying you will need to do

Just finished the updated last night.

Have to put the corresponding config.nfm and pkgdb folder of the corresponding USB (ie USB1, USB2, USB3) in the root directory, starting with USB1.

Everything fits on a 32GB stick.
