Unhappy Strange Grinding Noise and Some Lights

Whenever I turn on and off my car, there is a strange sound that occurs. It seems like its coming from the transmission area, but I can quite say. It never happens when Im driving. Also, the dash has the ABS and 4x4 light on, which to me makes no connection to the grinding noise.

2007 e90 328xi.

Help?

My guess is the transfer case actuator.

This. (My guess Upon startup, the actuator motor is trying to get the default torque split going. When it fails, it turns on the lights (but they're already on) and doesn't attempt to move the actuator again, until the next start.

My 2007 328XI started with this grinding noise just after engine shutts off. After 2 or 3 weeks the panel became a christmas three. ABS, 4X4, Brakes... all lights on.
It was the transmission servo motor actuator. Cost to replace that was $650 (parts) + 150 (labor). The service was done by a local Repair shop especialized BMW VOlvo and VW, but not a BMW dealer.
