Fault Codes explained?

My BMWhat Wifi Adaptor arrived yesterday, and after clearing the codes, checking they're cleared and then using the car today, I've had 6 come back.

2 are glow plugs which have failed, no big deal really.

But the rest I can't really work out, anyone got any ideas?

Roof / Dach:
- Fault: unknown failure
- Code: 00A670

Junction Box Passenger / Beifahrer:
- Fault: Internal error of the sensor - K-LIN 6 xAUC sensor
- Code: 00A6CF
- Fault: Short circuit to positive or open circuit - additional water pump
- Code: 00A6D1

Car Communication Computer CCC:
- Fault: Message failure
- Code: 00E18F

Last fault I'm assuming might have something to do with the fact my car doesn't have iDrive?

Possible water pump failure?

Looks like my air quality sensor has failed, and thus my automatic circulation isn't working? Guessing this is why I thought it was just rubbish at keeping bad smells out of the car.

Not sure on the roof one but I don't have a sunroof etc.

I've found if you google for BMW and your fault code(excluding the leading 00's) you'll usually get decent informative results. So for the first one for instance searching "BMW A670" gets you plenty results about an Anti-condesnation sensor.

I've got the water pump code too, not really sure what that does.

Ah, I was including the 00.

From my research, the pump is about the one that keeps the heater active when the engine is off, nothing to do with the main cooling system.

I had done some research, but was drawing a blank on the roof one, will investigate more.

Edit - Hmm yep, it's a sensor on the windscreen that detects as it starts to mist up and is supposed to change the fan direction to prevent it from becoming noticeable. My windscreen is cracked anyway so won't sort this until it's been changed.

E18F is a fault on the MOST bus, some people say it's a fault code that is actually saying there's no fault, which is strange...

Okay, think I've found everything the faults are picking up other than E18F. I'd probably have to get Makkan to go through it all to even possibly find it.

They're all possibly coincidentally related to the Heater/AirCon system.

For anyone finding this from google, here you go.

Roof / Dach:
- Fault: unknown failure
- Code: 00A670
- Condensation Sensor on the windscreen - Part Number - 64 11 6 928 326

Junction Box Passenger / Beifahrer:
- Fault: Internal error of the sensor - K-LIN 6 xAUC sensor
- Code: 00A6CF
- Air Quality Sensor in the engine bay - Part Number - 64 11 9 240 180

- Fault: Short circuit to positive or open circuit - additional water pump
- Code: 00A6D1
- Water Pump for the REST mode - Part Number - 64 11 8 369 806

Really considering if I bother with the Additional Water Pump, £100 for a part that I never use. I am assuming that the fault means it needs replacing.

looks pretty much right.

As for the water pump, some cars use the auxiliary pump to circulate water round the engine after its been shut off to control temperatures and stop hotspots forming, and in those cases you'd want the pump working regardless. No idea if the BMW uses the pump for that though, or if its only used for REST mode.

Hmm, if that was the case then obviously I'd get it changed. Struggling to justify it especially with labour if it's purely for REST mode though.

The auxiliary water pump is a small electric pump on the RHS of the engine compartment as you face the engine. You can buy from a breakers for £30 or so. It is used for the REST mode but also assists coolant circulation at low engine speeds. It can be changed easily by clamping the 2 hoses which connect to it.

The fogging/condensation filter is located in the mirror housing and has likely failed due it not being carefully removed and replaced during a windscreen replacement. Same happened to me but Autoglass promptly replaced with a new one when I brought the error code to their attention.

Not sure if I can go through the hassle of getting one from a breakers, rather than just getting a new one, but maybe. EDIT - Hmm, seem cheap enough on eBay. Where is it on the engine? Having a lift installed in our garage so could probably tackle it myself.

Yeah as said my windscreen needs to be replaced soon so I'll just leave it until after that, it's not an original screen so that's most likely what's happened.

Easily visible on right side of engine fixed to inner wing. Not far from oil filter housing on my ex e90 330d. It has a coolant inlet and outlet pipe afixed.

Ah through the top? Will have a look tomorrow.

Found an AUC Sensor off an F30 which uses the same part number too, can't be more than a few years old so should be fine.

Won't be anything to do with sunroof, it's the condensation sensor behind the rear view mirror. When I had my windscreen replaced I had a look, seems fairly simple to get to.

Air quality sensor is easy peasy.
