Initializing sunroof
Anyone know how to initialize the sunroof? I just picked up my brand new 330i on Saturday and the sunroof is not initialized. I'm planning to take it back to the dealer Monday morning, but I'd rather not...

What do you mean by sunroof not initialized? Does this mean that its not operating/opening?

OK
Press and hold the sunroof in the "lift" position the roof will go up, keep holding for about 15sec and then the roof will move another half inch or so up Keep holding the switch in the lift position, the roof will then close, then slide open all the way, and then close again The process is then complete Do not release the button untill the process is completely finished, else you would have to start over again |

Does the sunroof on the E90 have a rear wind deflector at the back of the sunroof opening when the sunroof is in the tilt position? My current car (Passat) has a little deflector that pops up at the back of the sunroof opening as well as jagged teeth on the rear edge of the glass that really cuts down on buffeting when I have it in the tilt postion. I can drive a 80 mph without much wind noise or buffeting.

I have discovered that you dont have to hold the button the whole time. Eg to lift I just press the button and release and it lifts. To slide open I pull the button towards the back and it slides open totally ... no need to hold the button until it is fully open. I also discovered if sunroof is totally open and you press the button for the lift position - the sunroof closes and lifts - all the the press (not hold) of the button. Similarly if in the lift mode you just press the button to the back and it closes, then slides open

Flyboy, I think the "hold the button" post refers to the initial set-up of the sunroof. It seems they might be shipped in a disabled format and you (or dealer) needs to hold the button through the first cycle to enable the sunroof button. You're right....after that it's always a one touch operation.

Ok I wasn't the one who revived this thread, and if you took the time to read the last few posts there quotes from the movie Airplane...
