So yesterday I was driving with my mom in the passenger seat (yay for Mother's Day) and as I turned left through an intersection, some water splashed on her feet. I assured her it couldn't be from the car, cause that wouldn't make sense, but as we looked for a culprit, the only thing left was the car. Now I had gotten a car wash earlier that day, but I still don't see how any would make it to an area like the passenger side footwell. Also, it only happened the one time while going over the transition from one street to another, so I don't know what effect the relative violence of the motion could have had. I'm curious to see what you guys think about this. Thanks

Sunroof drains plugged, or leaking heater core. Why would water at your feet not make sense?

I've only had the car for 4 months, so the list of possible reasons for water in the footwell was pretty short. This is the first time it's ever happened too, so that's why I posted it here, in case there was a bigger issue like the heater core issue you mentioned. Thanks for that info by the way

In my experience with failing heater cores you usually smell anti-freeze in the cabin or your windshield will fog up with thick condensation. Ever see any of those?

Could also be the sunroof drain like Viktimize said.

Look out for those things.

The first thing I did was smell it to check if it was antifreeze and it was definitely just water. And no condensation like you mentioned. So you're thinking plugged sunroof drain? where is that located?

My best guess would be clogged AC condensor drain like in this post. Happend in my subaru, left turns only. Clogged sunroof drains usually mean a wet headliner, not floor.

This is actually a really common problem with BMWs and Audis. Your car is seven years old now so the little rubber seals everywhere are starting to deteriorate. The sunroof and ac condenser drains are both suspect, as are the seals between the cowl and windshield and the blower motor/cowl. The door seals can also be letting it in.

You hit that on the button bro. Seems my front passenger doors crappin the bed. Actuator might have gone bad, door seal's starting to show signs of failure, exterior window trim needs replacing.

Check and make sure the cowl and cabin air filter are installed correctly. It is a common issue that when they are not installed correctly then water will leak on the passenger floor well.

I had this problem once in my mustang. After every rain, I would have water pouring through my passenger footbox whenever I accelerated.

The cause of the problem in my mustang was a clogged drain inside the engine bay. There is obviously a passageway from the cabin filter in your engine bay to the footbox inside the car. Well, in the mustang, water can get into that passageway the same way air can. There is a drain at the bottom of this passageway that allows the water to drain (duh) so it doesn't end up inside your car. It was clogged with various leaves and pine needles and what not, causing the drain to not function, dumping water into the food box.

Check all the drains inside the engine bay as well. Make sure they are all clear. They should look like rubber grommets.

To be honest I'm really relieved to see this isn't some big problem, but perhaps just a clogged drain. To any of the e90 guys that have had this problem, where are the drains located that have cause the problems?

This happened to my previously 335 (2009) and is a fairly common problem. Usually the windshield has been replaced and/or the cowling is loose at base of windshield. This allows water to enter the fresh air intake for the ventilation system and collect in the fan housing in passenger foot well. You need to have it checked out because it will eventually cause your fan to rust and fail. (Mine had started to squeak when the car was traded).
