09/328i Sports Sedan 6MT/ 37k miles/Private Party Asking $24.5 --Advice

Looking at buying a 328i 6MT. I found a 4door with 37K miles on it, red ext/black int, from a private party.

No CPO
They are the second owner

Included Options:
Sports Package
Power Seats
Moonroof
leather
rear fold down
usb audio
xenon headlights
newish tires - non-runflats

They are asking $24,500 (I am thinking that is high)

I haven't seen the car yet, but let's assume excellent condition with a fully recorded and up to date maintenance history.

What is a fair price for this car?

Keep in mind for enthusiasts 6mt are more sought after, also keep in mind if you enjoy performance you'll kick yourself for not getting a 335i.

I am a big enthusiast and enjoy performance and I am certainly not kicking myself for not getting a 335. I'm very happy with my NA BMW I6 engine.

You're a rare breed, I was just generalizing that for most performance minded drivers 3.0 I6 + 2 turbos > 3.0 I6.

Venti, I just got a 335i w/ out warranty from a dealer for a few hundred more than that... That price is too high for private party IMO. I'd also take to a foreign repair shop and have them look it over. For that price you better have brand new tires, filters, oil, ect. Also don't forget Red gets you pulled over more... Had a red car once, was only pulled over 10 times in it. But hey only 2 tickets out of those 10!!!!

Way too high man. I got nearly the same car with 23k miles minus sports package and xenon with two tanks of gas for 21k from a dealership. Just keep looking for a better price man. 328i e90s are very common and one will come up.

Thanks for the input!

Yeah, for me, the 328 is the right mix of power/price/reliability. I don't think I would pay more than 22K for it.

I am not 100% sold on the red either. I feel like you either have to love it or hate it, and I am just lukewarm about it.

It's not all about 0-60. I'm enthusiastic for how the car sticks to the road, takes corners, and gives awesome feedback. Most of the time 0-60 is irrelevant.

Not to mention I don't have to worry about engine failure. I'm enthusiastic about that.

Thanks everyone, so that guy wouldn't really budge on price, and after the comment here, I decided to pass it up.

I found a similar 328i 6MT sedan with ~37K miles

No CPO

From a non-affiliated dealership, and the dealer acquired it at auction.

Major Options:
Sports Package
Power Seats
Moonroof

It has leatherette instead of leather

They are asking $23,000

Would it be reasonable to offer them 20K?

For comparison:

http://carmax.com/enus/view-car/defa...2-ceb51c9d1899

This one doesn't have sports package but it has premium and CW. Also, it's AWD and and 32k. I like using carmax as comparison because they usually have the car you're looking for and the no haggle pricing is a good way to judge what to offer other dealers.

Thanks. Yeah carmax is a good resource. I think that they are a bit above market, but you know that if you are paying carmax price with a private party/dealer then you can probs do better.

too high. $20k - $21k at max. 335's are in that 24 - 25k range.
