Bum warmers required on a car with leather. I'd be adding a speaker upgrade too. Standard is pathetic. |

I agree with everyone saying the E90 standard speaker setup is rubbish, but I've always been pleased with the E92 standard speakers - shame there's no tweeter in the door, but all good apart from that!
BUT! Having said that... £450 for Pro Nav or £700 for Pro Nav and Harmon Kardon - which alone costs £900 on the configurator... hmm.... |

If it was me I'd be going...
Black Sapphire 19" 313M wheels Black or Coral Red Dakota leather (Anthracite Bamboo wood, high gloss if Coral Red) Media Package - BMW Professional Internet Mobile application preparation (with Telephone USB audio interface) Ext. mirrors - folding, auto dimming Model designation deletion Sun protection glass Lumbar support Seat heating, front Adaptive headlights (with Rain sensor with auto. headlight activation) High beam assistant That little lot comes in at £37,365. That's a little cheaper than the spec in your first post. I'd ditch the Auto with the 320d I'd keep the Smokers package because the storage without it doesn't get a lid and there's a lighter socket you can use if needs be. I wouldn't bother with speakers. I'm fairly sure mine are standard and they're actually rather good I think. Then again I just like playing with the car configurator I'm looking at this one now with Coral Red and it looks lush! Is the auto not good with the 320d? It's an absolute must, so I need to get some opinions in case the engine isn't up to it
Nice spec btw! Only thing I disagree on is the high beam assist - got it at the minute and hate it... Think I'm going to include the adaptive headlights, for the extra £200 it seems worth it Does the pro nav have a hard drive? Is there any point including the iPhone support with it? It will tend to be used 95% of the time with a Blackberry |

Congrats on the future purchase. I'm speccing up a new car myself
I read somewhere that Telephone USB Audio Interface adds the ability to make and receive calls whilst still being able to play music from the phone. How this works in practice im not so sure. Think you'll need an iPhone and the dock adapter also? I don't go on long trips so personally I cant be doing with the faffing around with docks and removing phone from holsters etc. for it to be worthwhile. Pro Nav is indeed HDD based so you'll be able to transfer your music across via USB. |

I dont know why people keep saying the standard stereo set up is pathetic. Yes the upgrades are better but the standard stereo is certainly not pathetic.

Adaptive headlights are not worth £2.00 nevermind £200 , save the cash or use that money for other options would be my advice.
Comfort Access is a lovely little luxury ......... not sure how much it costs. |

On an e90 yes the standard speakers are awful but the e92 the stamdard setup is more than adequate in my opinion
What's so bad with adaptive headlights? I thought the idea of the fogs coming on on slow moving corners was an especially good idea, no? |

Standard speakers in my E90 were awful, very weak mid range...got some £60 pioneer ones fitted which sound much better, though they run of puff at higher volumes but suits me fine. The standard ones must has cost BMW about £5

did you get much discount? worth a search on the interenet e.g broadspeed shows 7 grand of list price and after spec-ing the options the car is still quite cheap. should compare around~

If it's a must then fair enough. I'm sure there are plenty on here that would disagree but I found the 320d auto to be as dull as a dull thing. I really fancied the auto originally but didn't spec it. I got an opportunity to try one when I had a coutesy car for a few days and really couldn't get on with it.

I would drop the Auto in favour of heated seats and xenons.
I don't know if it's now standard but the rain/light sensors that automate the high beam and wipers are pretty cool, I hated them to begin with but they are something I've become hooked on. Driving at night in a car without the high beam assist is hard work now! |

I agree. I think the High Beam Assist and Adaptive Xenons have moved on maybe since earlier versions. I think they're amazing on country roads and I wouldn't be without them now. Mine's an F10 but I imagine the effect is the same.

I love everything you get with the Visibility Pack on my E91. It's not often I'm driving at night so I can't wait for darker mornings and evenings On the few occasions I've used the High Beam Assist I've been very impressed. Then again I'm impressed by the door handles lighting up so it doesn't take much.

The one thing everyone has missed (as far as I can see) is DAB. I don't know how long you plan on keeping the car, and I guess if it's a company car future trade in isn't your concern. However, the closer we get to the suggested 2015 switch off of National stations on FM the more people will want this in their car.
I appreciate that 'today' it may not be a priority unless you spend your life listening to R5, but in a couple of years time? Anything that Ford fit as standard to a Focus must have some merit! |
