335i vs Mustang GT ?

Hello all, i have been monitoring these forums for about 1 year now , and finally have decided to create an account. I currently have a V6 mustang and my lease is up in about 2-3 months. I'm having trouble deciding on what car to get next. The 335i seems to be a perfect blend of performance, luxury, and looks. However i have read quite a few horror stories about people having lots of problems with their 07 335i's ( HPFP, Head gaskets, Turbos, etc.) The reason why this pertains to me is becuase the only way i can afford a 335i is if i was to get a used one. On the other hand i could order a brand new 2010 mustang gt exactly how i want. I haven't had one issue with my current car and like to think that that's how the next one would be . But if some of you could chime in on how your experience with your car has been it would be greatly appreciated. And what you would do in my situation.

Could not agree anymore. I am one of those people that had the most horrible luck possible with their 335's. Hence I am now rocking an '09 as BMW did stick behind their product and give me a new car. In saying all of that, I still would not give up my 335 for anything besides a Porsche at this point.

My vote is a certified preowned E92 335i.

Best of luck!

the 335 gives you handling that the mustang can't. i have had my share of problems with the car but love every minute of driving. look for a car that hasn't had any repairs and hasn't been flogged by the previous owner.

If you want handling then you should get a Z4M coupe like I did...I traded in my 2007 335i for it....

Buy a CPO(cert. pre-owned) 335...i'm sure most of the problems BMW has fixed and not modded(hopefully). And plus 6yr/100k warranty.

well from the start ive been leaning towards the 335i becuase it is so different then what im driving now.I was under the impression that the CPO cars are just cars they took in used , and sold again with warranty's if the client decides to purchase one. I wasn't aware they go to distant measures to repair, replace parts, etc in the cars. Very good to know. I learn more on here everyday.

If you do decided to go with the Mustang, wait until next year. It's getting an engine upgrade to 350Hp +, and it's not just a tune and a few easily replaced items. IIRC they're actually upping the displacement a little, and it's getting revised heads.

The 335i is a great option, but if you're going to be streatching the budget to get it, the Mustang might be a smarter move. There's plenty of aftermarket support for either, but the Mustang is going to cost you less if you break something.

LoL yea id die if i got a car out of warranty and had tons of issues. As for the new motor although it sounds great , i cant extend my lease for more then 2 months at a time ,for a total of up to 6 months. And as good as the motor may be i just cant wait that long + all the performance parts are out now for the 4.6 motor . But yea in my logical side of the brain i think picking up the mustang may be a smarter move . But then my other side kicks in

maybe a 135i Msport will be more affordable and you could get a new one with a big long warranty?

Three words: Solid rear axle. That's reason enough for me not to get a Stang.

I'm not a big Mustang fan.

Personally I'd stay away from anything American. Especially with all the trouble Ford and GM are having. +1 for the 135i.
