Are Raceland DPs reliable, worth buying?
These are cheaper than most other downpipes on the market, so I was wondering if any of you had any problems with it or things I should know before buying these over other downpipes
Also, is there any fitment issues? thanks |

I have a set of raceland on my car. I had a little bit of issues lining them up on the install. But other than that no problems. There's not much to downpipes. On one of the pipes by the turbo side there's a huge indent at the elbow, it looks wierd but I don't think it's restrictive.

I have been looking at getting a set too after I hopefully get new turbos from the dealer.

Pipes are pipes. Earlier revisions had fitment issues, but they seem to be fixed as of now. They are the entry level N54 downpipes, so obviously won't have the quality AR/AA do, but they still get the job done, that is deleting the biggest restriction in the exhaust system. The only con with the pipes I see, is that they are 2.5" pipes all the way through. This means if you are planning to run boost in upwards of 17psi you are leaving 4-6whp on the table. Minor, but still a consideration.

Why not spend a $100 more and get a quality set of VRSF DP's. You'll save on having to buy better gaskets/bolts too. I got mine for $319 shipped!

Not really true. Some people get ones that don't fit, while most get properly designed ones. I agree with your decision to get VRSFs for a little more money and get a proper fit without the fear of getting a bad set. Also the VRSF's are 3" whereas the racelands are 2.5".

It's not all about fitment either, the Racelands are also poorly constructed, the opening mouth had a flange that protruded directly into the airstream that I had to grind off before installing. The welds are dirty, all the joints are garbage. They thoroughly suck. I plan on buying a set of VRSFs when these racelands explode on me.

I run raceland dp on my car and am stage 2+ with a Cobb tune. pulls just as hard as any similar car and holds up fine same as above initial fitment probably added half an hour to install but truly not anymore difficult then others.

Raceland Review
I bought one of the first versions and the quality was very poor. The welds were oxidized, there was over penetration in multiple locations, and there was sharp internal corner overlaps on both bends coming off the V-band connector sides.
I cut and re-welded most of it, blended the insides as smooth as possible, and had to bend the mounting brackets alot during the install (they still don't fit perfect). They add power and sound great but if I had to do it again, I would definately pay more for quality. Plus as said before, they dont come with gaskets or hardware... |

I bought used racelands. I bought them used because I knew they would fit...lol
I would get the VRSF ones if I had to make the choice again. The Racelands fit just fine though.

BMS or VRSF DP's.... Not saying Racelands are bad, I just know the VRSF's are nice and sound great. The BMS pipe is just like the VRSF so I'm assuming they would be comparable to VRSF.

i have racelands on my car and the fitment was perfect and i have put up as much if not more power than people with similar mods as me... i was to do it again, i would still go with the racelands because in the end 2.5 - 3 isnt really gonna make a huge difference as people may think and money wise, i would rather invest the money saved in another part such as new BMS DCI or something...

Racelands fit just fine. Do they fit like a glove? No. Takes an extra 10 minutes to install, and they're half the price of the competition. I say go for it. A few of my friends have them with no issues whatsoever. I personally installed a set and they fit fine.

^^^ I definitely made more power than stock downpipes, the cats are restrictive as hell, do YOUR homework.
Have had em on my car for about 2 years maybe more, no rattles or fitment issues since I got them after they worked out the kinks, no indent either (like PLM downpipes). Just a filthy exhaust note I can't get enough of! I do think about that extra 5whp from upgrading to full 3 inch sometimes though haha, although I don't know if itd make a huge difference since I still have secondary cats/midpipes |

Unless the volume decreases 170CFM by the end of the downpipe it doesn't really make a difference since the 2.5" restriction exists at the end of the downpipe anyways.
