One, I don't think posts should be removed ever. Two, to each his own, there's no 'right' way. Three, Cobb is good, piggies work, I'm sure OFT and the BT are good too. The bottom line is, we are on the forums because we mod and we love this """"! Unfortunately, """" breaks when it's pushed hard, oh well. IMHO, if you're concerned (no offense to anyone who is) with the ramifications of modding, why do you do it? The manufacturers state that they don't take responsibility for parts and materials pushed beyond their design intention for a reason, right?

Regarding the current COBBs on sale in the marketplace right now, what kind of official support can one get with a used AP? Would you have to rely on the generosity of the forums here, or does COBB still support the units? I am tempted to go with a solution that has pro support as I've never tuned anything and wouldn't mind having that.

I would think they would still support it the same. It's their product wether it's the new or old version, it still does the same thing. Plus I bought mine used on here a year ago and have had excellent customer service from Josh whenever an issue came up.

this is awesome honestly. I'm glad they finally posted this on their website. you can use it on your car for code reading logging etc... and you can flash unlimited numbers of cars with open source app

Are there other ways to do code reading and logging w/o the cable? Freely?

I'm not sure what you mean by "free". Its going to take an ODBC reader with USB functionality read and upload data. The BT cable is serving as that conduit.

well the software is free, the hardware will always cost something. going forward I'm sure cheaper cables will be supported. The thing is any developer can choose to work on this and bring support to other cables. For instance, klipseracer (banned here) is working on android flashing-- which would be "free" for those of us who carry android phones. you see the picture though, community driven progress

Android flashing will be the bomb for my Nexus 7 with Pro Clip mount. Can't wait to see what he comes up with.

If anyone is looking for the best BMW mounts, check out Pro Clip. I was blown away with this mount and it's solid... They have options for other tables, phones, and devices.

Sorry should have clarified, I wasn't looking for the cable/hardware to be free obviously. More wondering if I buy a 1-vin BT cable and want to help a friend tune, what are my options for reading/logging his car?

Hey Wedge,

Can you clue me in on what the OTF tune is? I'm running the Cobb at the moment as you may remember. What controller is needed to map the ecu with OFT?

OFT is short for OpenFlash Tablet

I think @DMACC provided the answer. Don't get me wrong, the COBB stand alone is still a very viable solution as you can log much more information. But if you're just using the backend flash, I would look at going OFT or BTF. OFT will be more convenient and provide a lot more functionality as they continue to develop.

If we could log the basics through a standalone app (or Android app!) that would help immensely. Logging through BT is a real PITA. I'm sure it's coming though

If it reduces the lifespan of certain components, well, isn't that the price you always pay for running higher power levels?
The point is, you're decreasing turbo lifespan when there are other ways to go about it. You could easily run less midrange boost with additional timing and net a very responsive car at the expense of a hair less peak torque. I've personally run this approach for smoother response.

However, the beauty of all this is, with TunerPro, you can easily alter his OTS maps to suit your tastes.
i would like to see thoughs logs and dyno graphs

Anything would be better than nothing!!! I don't see how anyone could or would provide custom tuning without a way to log data.
