Cayenne better sprinkled on meat and eaten than driven - overpriced Touareg/Q7.

If you're antsy for a luxury SUV consider an MDX (they run forever), an older gen X3 with the 3.0 or the 09 X5 35d they have there instead.

I am looking at doing the following and not sure if I want to do the work or spend the money and get it done

Downpipe
Change out intake to a dual cone
Getting a Cobb I think still not sure

Next spring
Exhaust
Intercooler

Get a hold of Anthony at A&L in Palatine , 847-991-5620 He will take care of you, Intake and Cobb you should be able to do but downpipes his price is well worth not doing it yourself.

I hear the transmissions in the older ones don't hold up though, replacement seems pretty standard every 20k miles or so

I would personally only get a Cayenne if a bit newer, 09+. They have their fair share of issues, and being out of warranty would be a headache. I remember you mentioned interest in an E46 M3. Do that and keep for a few years. Then buy an '11+ Cayenne down the road!

ah toyota and lexus, they sure know the fine points of making an ugly as f*** interior..

if it helps i've got an '06 mdx, in the 6-7 years we've had it never done anything but oil changes, but it is only used for family trips.. parents love it. i just hate it coz its an suv.
