So, my retrofit is now complete and working as it should. the issue for me all along was that I ordered the wrong thigh seat heating elements. I have sports seats and to the best of my knowledge there is only one type of sports seat. However the ETK lists two parts, item 5 in this link:
http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=52_3712 I ordered the "Heater element, thigh bolster, Sport" and when they arrived they had black plugs on them which wouldn't mate up to the white plugs coming out of the seat bases as detailed in an earlier post. This is the sticker on the incorrect element: I changed the plugs and fitted them and then is when I had all the trouble with the lights clicking off straight away on the passengers side right from day one, where as the drivers side worked originally but after the support got very hot it stopped working and the lights clicked off straight away. So I ordered the other part with the description " Heater element, thigh support" and when they arrived they had the correct white female plug on them to marry up to the seat base. When I pulled the leather cover off the support that worked originally but got too hot and stopped, I found that it had melted the foam, and was probably lucky not to catch fire. If I had the correct thigh element to begin with everything would have worked fine initially. In any case it is all working now and I am warm! |

This has nothing to do with the retrofit but I'm hoping one of you can help diagnose an issue with my heated seats. It turns on and off randomly. I noticed that if there is no pressure on the seat (lift my bum off the seat), it turns on as it should. It looks like a power issue because the power seat adjustments don't work as well when the seat warmers stop working too. Any ideas of what wire I should take a look at or is this a fuse problem? The passenger side is perfectly fine.

Hi All,
I retrofitted heated seats to my E91 320d LCI. I have a similar problem like NBTBRV8. when I press heating button, leds start light for 5 seconds and turn off. This happens on driver as well as passenger side. I didn't feel any heating on seats. I have manual leather seats before and I'm replaced it with non LCI manual heated seats with modules. I used OEM cable harness and plug cables to fuse box and junction box according many forums. It was coded with ISTAP. Do you know what should be a problem? Thank you |

From memory the seat back and base don't run through the same circuit out of the seat plug do they? So I would disconnect say, the seat base heated seat wiring then turn it on and see if the backrest heats up. All it needs is for one of the two circuits to fail and the whole seat will stop working. Then try it the other way, disconnect the seat heating from the back rest, connect the base and then turn it on. The other way to check would be to buy a new base and backrest element (they are cheap) and plug them in independent of the seat straight out of the heating module, this will eliminate any issues with the heating elements in the seats and point you back towards a problem with your wiring to the seats. |

Guys need some help!
Just retrofitted msport heated seats in my e90 lci and unfortunately they don't work. The seats came off a 2011 car whch matches mine. I notced that the fuse box layout was changed after 3/2007 so followed an official german pdf guide which shows the correct fuse locations, i did the wiring as follows: X275 Pin1 to x14270 Pin 34 X275 Pin5 to x11001 Pin 10 "soldered to pin5 from x279" X275 Pin8 soldered to bolster ground wire X275 Pin4 to x11006 Pin 1 X279 Pin1 to x14270 Pin 38 X279 Pin5 to x11001 Pin 10 "soldered to pin5 from x275" X279 Pin8 said soldered to bloster ground wire X279 Pin4 to x11006 Pin 2 I then noticed that X275 and x279 has no male pin in number 4 but has one in pin 9. Did some research and realized that manual seats with heating has the power at pin 9 so used it instead of pin4. Coded the car by adding $494 to the VO and coded the CAS and NFRM by FA-WRITE, then SG-Codieren to the Junction box and IHKA. Afterwards the climate control buttons started to work but the seats never got any warmer. Im not sure if this is a wiring or coding problem, i tried coding all other modules by SG-Codieren hoping this would fix, i even double checked all the wiring/sockets and everything looks spot on. I have a feeling that LCI's might have a different wiring diagram and hence why they don't work, I didn't find any diys or threads disscusing this retrofit in a LCI so any help would be very much appreciated! Cheers!

I built my own loom with genuine socket connectors and the proper cables using the recommended amps as per BMW specs on ISTA-D. I've retrofitted cic from non idrive radio, folding mirrors, bluetooth, combox, front pdc, bixenons so im quite confident of my wiring. I'll try to get the EBA for my car and see if there are any differences. Fingers crossed

**SORTED**
After digging on the german forums and the wiring diagrams and despite the misleading information on ISTA-D, official BMW EBA and the parts guy at my local main dealer, it turnes out that there are 3 wiring diagrams for the E90. However the latest German EBA that was issued in 12/2009 says there are only 2 diagrams tho this is absolutely WRONG! Cars produced before 3/2007 are different from cars produced between 3/2007 to 9/2007 and different from cars produced after 9/2007. I will write down all the wiring connections so people wont suffer the same. Cars before 3/2007 X275 Pin 1 to Pin 34 in X14270 Pin 4 to Pin 4 in X11005 (30A Fuse32) Pin 5 to Pin 9 in X11003 "Soldered with Pin 5 from X279 (5A Fuse29) Pin 8 to X490 or connect to any ground wire X279 Pin 1 to Pin 38 in X14270 Pin 4 to Pin 6 in X11004 (30A Fuse49) Pin 5 to Pin 9 in X11003 "Soldered with Pin 5 from X275" Pin 8 to X490 or connect to any ground wire Cars between 3/2007 and 9/2007 X275 Pin 1 to Pin 34 in X14270 Pin 4 to Pin 1 in X11006 (30A Fuse46) Pin 5 to Pin 10 in X11001 "Soldered with Pin 5 from X279 (5A Fuse10) Pin 8 to X490 or connect to any ground wire X279 Pin 1 to Pin 38 in X14270 Pin 4 to Pin 2 X11006 (30A Fuse45) Pin 5 to Pin 10 in X11001 "Soldered with Pin 5 from X275 Pin 8 to X490 or connect to any ground wire Cars after 9/2007 and LCI X275 Pin 1 to Pin 34 in X14270 Pin 9 to Pin 4 in X11008 (20A Fuse68) Pin 5 to Pin 10 in X11001 "Soldered with Pin 5 from X279" (5A Fuse10) Pin 8 to X490 or connect to any ground wire X279 Pin 1 to Pin 38 in X14270 Pin 9 to Pin 3 in X11001 (20A Fuse3) Pin 5 to Pin 10 in X11001 "Soldered with Pin 5 from X275 Pin 8 to X490 or connect to any ground wire Hope this helps!

Glad you got it sorted. If you have the LCI EBA, can you post it on here for future reference. |

The latest EBA that was issued in 12/2009 doesn't include the new layout that was carried out in 9/2007! Definitely some monkeys are working at BMW..

Hello everyone, i am NOT doing a retrofit but need some information that i cant seems to find anywhere! I have 2009 North American 335D with HEATED and power seats (sport and comfort access package if thats matter) but my problem is: the DRIVER seat will not remember heated setting! Like if i chose setting #1(3 lights are ON) for the driver then cycle ignition off then back ON the heated sets will be OFF, it is NOT happening for passenger seat (seat remember setting) even if you cycle ignition few times!
The reason i need this is i have remote start (Idatastart) and in cold weather it is very convenient to warm up seats before you jump into the car! What module is responsible for this and maybe i can flash it or not PLEASE ADVISE me where to look about this problem! |

My passenger's seat wiring went from the button, to the junction box, then from there to the small seat module under the seat. |

manual seats have same small seat heating module as in passenger seat with el. adjustment
BUT e92 and e93 have both seats with large combined module due the reason to control motor limits and move seat forth and back using button on backrest upper side

Yes, but on every E90 I have seen with electric seats, there is no memory function for seat heating regardless of the control module.

It looks like we are both right. On P34:
Press once for each temperature level. Three lamps indicate the highest temperature. To switch off: Press button longer. If you continue driving within the next 15 minutes, the seat heating is automatically activated at the previously set temperature. http://www.bmwusa.com/pdf_1b1e114d-1...a2b5652e6.arox |

Does anyone know if I can retrofit pre-LCI heated & powered sport seats in my LCI which currently has powered, non-heated, non-sport seats?
What would this require? Is the wiring plug-and-play or will I need some re-wiring and/or coding? |

You really need to start investing the WDS to compare the wiring on the two. |
