Not much of an issue for installation. You have to remember, this is a race car only, not street driven so I'm not sure if my buddy removed something that may be needed for the street.

That's cool. I'm getting ready to pick up a set for my wife's z4. Just wondering if I'd encounter any fittment issues.

Didn't realize you were local to me TSM330i. You, Smooth 330i, and I should meet up some time and swap notes. We all have very similar cars with similar mods.

Are you going to NJMP in August? Lots of local guys do the HPDE that weekend. I'll be driving in the 4 hour Endurance race and maybe one of the sprint races with my buddy's Spec E36. As for dyno's for videos, I am not authorized to work on the Z4 since I am not a BMW certified tech. My buddy who owns Bimmerworks and works on the race cars has been swamped with his business so side projects do not take a priority. That being said, once it's up and running properly, I'll definitely come back and share what we have.

No plans for NJMP or any HPDEs this year. I just frankly don't have the time. Steve is always up to his eyes in work. I'm pretty he was trying to buy my headers for that car at one point.

Where is the Cars & Coffee in West Chester? I've heard about it, but never attended. I'm super busy too. Still "working" now and may be working for a while. '85 911 is a new classic! Sweet car!

What racing series are you guys preparing this car for? I have not seen in BMWCR or NASA yet.

Just to add: I am starting a 128i build. And pretty much SS headers, custom or AA race exhaust and AA tune is what I have in plans. Cage will go in hopefully end of November.

From what I see here initially: Mason Engineering Brace - doesn't the E9x brace use a triangulation setup? Why not that route?
I can't see you playing with the rear camber outside of the 2.2 degrees of Camber needed, but I guess the BW rear camber kit couldn't hurt. I can't really comment on the rest, since I'm not a racecar driver so I imagine the stresses of constant loads are greater than those on the street, so some of those upgrades are needed. The Brakes are the curious part - 8000K for a BBK? Why not some 135/1M/E90 M parts with the F30 backing plates. The larger brakes will add to unsprung weight - but the 128i's lower weight and less momentum will mean you're probably taxing the brakes less? (don't a lot of E36 guys use the stock brakes?) I can build you an exhaust (using high quality parts) for half that price. I'm not sure how the car will react with the harmonics of a LTW flywheel, at the very minimum a ATI damper will probably be a good upgrade. I guess the BBK is the reason for the EC7s over the ARC8s - but if you can swing the 17s, the I'm sure you already know the consumables are a lot less. I'm not sure the racing radiator would offer extra capacity over the stock version - I'd consider a oil cooler instead. |
