Another N55 Procede V4 Review

I have had my N55 Procede for about 2-3 weeks now but have not had a chance to write a review. After thorough testing in numerous conditions, I can finally share my experience. Just as an FYI, I have 2011 335i E90 Sedan with Steptronic Auto Transmission.

I will start with the install. Most of the installation is done around the engine by plugging into different plugs as opposed to everything being done in the ECU like the N54. You start by wiring two canbus wires into the ecu and putting the Procede into the ECU box. After that, you continue letting the harness guide you around the engine into the different plugs. Everything is an absolute breeze except the Crank Position Sensor which cannot be seen by the eye and is located directly under the car's DME which is conveniently located under the engine . There is a trick to getting that plug in and numerous people have reported doing it in different ways. In my case, a friend of mine with smaller hands used two fingers to unplug the stock connector and plug the Procede one in. The install is completed by connecting power and ground. All in all, a breeze and should take no longer than 30-45 minutes as long as you know how to take the Crank sensor off which after doing a few times should be no problem.

The drivability of the Procede is absolutely excellent. The car drives and feels absolutely stock until you boost when everything goes to absolute madness. Midrange power is absolutely insane and the torque that comes in feels like somebody rammed you in the back. At any speed below 30 MPH, if I floor the vehicle with the Procede, the traction control will not let me go anywhere and If I floor it with DTC and DSC off, the car spins the rear tires and often kicks my back out. Keep in mind that I have a set of Michelin Pilot Sport Runflats which are very solid tires. Off the line, the vehicle whips your head back into the seat and will instantaneously spin the tires. I did a few top end runs with the vehicle as well; all above 80 mph and the Procede is equally impressive. Even at those speeds the vehicle manages to pull you back into your seat and when I switched back to valet (stock) mode, I quickly realized how much faster the car is with the Procede. The car feels like an absolute slug without the Procede on and does not seem to pull past 4K at all, with the unit this completely changes.

I also did a few runs with 100 Unleaded Octane race gas in Map 2 which I had previously setup as a race map. With this gas, the vehicle felt even quicker after autotuning unfortunately I had no place to do top end test runs.

Overall, I am greatly impressed with the Procede's drivability, power delivery and available features and recommend this product to anyone with an N55. I will have some videos up once I get around too it. Any other questions, feel free to ask!!

Great review man, the back kick feels so good...
After several pulls at WOT did you noticed any heat soak in your IC?

Adrian, many thanks for your review. Sounds very positive! Please send updates with any further impressions/observations as you gain more experience with the Procede.

I have been in the waiting line for the N55 Procede for my E90 6MT. One question I have for you is whether you feel that the power is manageable with the sport package rims/tires and no LSD. Some wheelspin is OK, but too much doesn't sound like a good thing for me. Is it manageable, or do you think you'll end up needing to change to larger wheels/tires?

BTW, I recently upgraded to the Koni yellow/sport shocks and BMW performance springs. They take out a lot of the body roll and bounciness in the stock suspension. At the same time, I also switched to non-RFT Continental DW tires, in 235 front/255 rear sizes. With 10mm spacers in front and 12mm in rear. All changes highly recommended.

This is hard to say, I have the stock front mount and I have no way to measure IAT's. It is pretty cold in Florida this time of the year but the power feels very consistent even with the stock front mount.

You will be 100% OK with stock tires and wheels. The pilot sports I have are the ones that came with the M Sport Package on my car. No need to change anything, you will love it!

Speak for yourself. I'm ordering new wheels and tires asap. I have zero traction 1st or 2nd. I find my rear going sideways a lot lol.

No idea, but it sure as hell is up there. The needle hits 15+ on a regular basis on map 2. Talked to shiv and he said it wasn't a misfire but rather another issue.

I still need to get my computer working so I can connect with my car. Can someone please put the link to the proper software application. I'd greatly appreciate it.
