Leak near oil cap

Hey guys,

Finishing up my stage 2 turbo swap and solving some small issues I pulled off the engine cover and the insulation of the cover was soaked with oil and what seems like gas, around the oil cap.. Also a little pooling in the holes at cyl 3, 4. Looks like oil with transperant fluid. Opened the oil cap and the smell is a little bit like gas.

Checked the rb pcv, flapper hose, and oil catch can, chaged valve cover, plugs, coils, injectors a few months ago. Already have new oul cap. Car runs great.

Why and what could be causing this?

Thanks.

Just to eliminate all possibilities was the oil cap completely screwed down? Had a similar incident on my son's car and found the oil cap was not screwed down the last tiny bit of a turn. I found it when I popped the hood and say a tiny bit of mist coming from the cap. It also leaked a little oil on cylinder 3 and 4.

Checked the oil cap and it was fine. Did see a constant difference between fuel trim bank 1 and 2, also did the pe mod with exhaust valve unpluged and new tips and only the right one is turning black, so hopefully I do have a leaking injector in one bank. Going to check the plugs asap. Still does'nt explain the fluid on top of the engine. What do you guys think?

Thanks

How old is the valve cover gasket? The valve covers themselves are also known to crack.

If there is a leak around/near the oil cap, then replace the oil cap.

The "newer" style oil cap is much better. Your current cap gasket is probably dried up, etc. Mine "looked" fine but I had the same issue; new cap fixed it.
