Getting Terrible MPG
Hey guys, I have an e92 328i with 6k miles on it. Since day one the highest mpg I've averaged is about 19mpg. I drive 80% city and 20% highway. Do you think there is anything wrong with the car? It's really annoying having to fill up every 5 or 6 days.

Our long-term avg mpg on a 335i is 22 mpg, but that averages in a LOT of highway driving. Around town, 17 is more typical. |

That sucks if its normal, does it get better over time? I dont drive it like I stole it but I dont drive the speed limit also. I think its still low because after filling up, it gives me a range of 245-270 miles.

There are a lot of factors that can affect your mpg. I live in the city with lots of hills so I average 15.6 mpg, so you should be happy with your mpg

Assuming you live in socal, I'm willing to bet you're in traffic a lot of the time. Add that with only 20% highway (which is also probably backed up), I think 19mpg is pretty good.

That is very normal for a 328 given the amount of city driving.. I get 23-24 MPG with 20% city/80% highway in my 328 MT: 28 MPG all highway. I've never driven just all city in one tank but I'm guessing it would be less than 19 MPG

Yep, I do drive it like I stole it but it likes that. A lot of my time is highway but to my office and around town it gets pretty low. After 34k miles, I have an overall average of 23.5, most trips I get about 22 avg but open highway gets up to 35mpg.

2 things: 1. you got glendale/LA traffic to fight with. 2. your name includes speed demon; me thinks that it might have something to do with your mpg
my 335 is getting 20mpg and I definitely get on it from time to time
