Been working on putting OBD/CAN_BUS performance metrics on the iDrive screen:
ignore the "2" in RPM and "1" in Boost: It seems BMW does not use the standard OBD PID code for oil temp and EGT. Anyone know how to read these values via OBD or the canbus id? More info here: miDrive |

From someone who has been there, done that, abandon the OBD implementation and skip to CANBUS. Tons more info there. Just takes a lot more sniffing since the PIDs aren't out there on Wikipedia. ;-)
