coilover height adjustment

I don't have aftermarket coilover yet but I know I will get one sooner or later.
When you lower the car, the spring perch should get twisted downward.
Once in the new low position does the spring expand or stay the same span.
When raise the car spring perch twisted upward, does the spring get
compressed to be shorter ?
If the spring span change according to height adjustment does it mean
the spring rate is different with different height ?
My guess is when all 4 springs perch adjusted properly,
all 4 spring support the car weight equally then lower
the car does not affect the spring span. Am I right ?

no, the adjusters move the damper independently of spring compression
