My rule of thumb has always been to swap the shocks/struts when changing springs..but this was when I was a Honda/Nissan guy. I'm not sure how well the stock e92/335i shocks/struts will hold up with a mild Eibach Pro-Kit drop. Any thoughts on that? I drive to work in the city and home, the roads are super smooth.

I did the same when I bought my car @40k drove it to 80k then swapped them out. Eibachs aren't that bad. If you go H&R's I'd recommend doing it then.

I think it would make a difference in if you have the sport package or not... and RWD or AWD...

I THINK the sport package struts travel distance is a little less than the regular bmw struts, so in theory, the sport struts might hold up a little better.

also believe if you have AWD and the sport package, you do not have the lower factory suspension.

I have the sport package and have been also kicking around the idea of getting just springs. Im at about 77k.

I'm nearly @ 80K on the stock sport Xi suspension. Still feels better than stock non sport Xi suspension @ 55K miles (drove a used E92 335xi 6AT without the sport pkg last weekend, what a garbage suspension that was, no thank you).

Personally, I'd consider shocks/struts within about 20K (or sooner depending on your car's mileage) of changing springs if you dont have the cash readily available. You're just amplifying the wear rate of the stock shocks/struts when you drop on aggressive springs like eibach.

BTW, there is no difference between the sport vs non-sport suspension on the xDrive vehicles.

I just have a stock/base 335i, not sport or anything fancy. I could definitely do it while it's apart. My odometer is reading 70K.

At this point though, I'd probably just be more inclined to purchase coil-overs, I just thought a minor pro-kit drop would've been fine to pair with the stock shock/struts.

Interesting thread. My low mileage E93 rides like crap so looking at what to do. Thinking about new rear bushing, Eibach springs with new bump stops, and M3 arms. Stock shocks are like new (less than 10K on car). I hope this works. I could but Koni yellows or v2, or Street comforts but not sure how much it might bring of the stocks that are like new. Not really looking to lower it much and it's a dd.

i put my eibach pro-kit springs on at around 50k miles with stock shocks/struts. no issues on my e90 and it has been 25k miles or so. buddy of mine did the same on his e90 but has accumulated closer to 40k miles. no issues either.

h&r's are more aggressive, shorter springs. i'd get bilstein HD's

I ended up getting Koni FSDs. The ride is smoother than it was stock while sitting about an inch lower all around.
