Pardon the waffle if you will but something really stands out about the people who post on here.
A lot of you like performance and seem to have the ability to splash the cash from time to time and there is much talk about expensive mods or urging people to get M3s and the like "you know you want to!" But, the enthusiasm for any of the cars seems to be genuine and wide and us small engine owners don't feel part of a sub-group because we can't do 13.5s standing quarters and what have you. This is about the one place I've seen where someone can come on gushing about their new car - "can't wait and can't sleep" and they get well received by others with demands to produce pics when the car has arrived. It's really nice to be able to express excitement and pleasure about something that is purely for oneself and have other people express similar sentiments - because we've all been there! It's one of my favourite thread topics. I know a lot of places where if that happened, the poor OP would get flamed mercilessly and I think it's hats off to all of you - I think it's one of the things that makes this forum stand out. So, do I like these forums... |

Alan, I've been on the forum since March 2005 (having owned an E90 before) and I love it here. The forum feels like an extended family (aahhh!!)
We all have one thing in common and that's the E9x in some shape or form. I have met so many members over the years and I've not met one bad person yet. Regardless of the particular model we drive, we have a passion for BMW and the E9x and want to share that with others. Between us all, the members on here have extensive knowledge of the cars and we try to share our knowledge with some good old English banter and maintain a good sense of humour. Yes there are strong debates at times but they never seem to get personal like on other forums. You even get the occasional "sorry" being said. The reason this is a good forum is because of the people who post here. Without YOU this forum is nothing. The forum also has an extra dimension in that many members know each other very well and regularly meet up. There are Regional Meets, UK Meets, Road Trips to the Ring, Meets at Car Shows, Meets at Santa Pod etc. The fact that we know each other and meet up makes a huge difference in how we communicate with each other on the forum. I genuinely enjoy the company of members on here and always have a good time when we meet up. To date I have not come across a single forum that comes close to e90post in terms of knowledge, helpfulness, good humour, friendliness and the willingness to socialise and meet up on regular basis. Yes, other forums have SOME of this, but not ALL of it like e90post. I love it and can see myself being on here for a few more years to come!! |

I agree with Paul 6million %. Its the friendliest forum ive been on. Ive met some fantastic friends through here also. (You all know who you are).
The smaller engined guys need to get out there and get others enthusing about the smaller engines. Get them down the pod stock and se what they can do and then tune and see how much time it can shave off. Is it you smaller engined guys are not so bothered about performance and thats why you dont... Im gagging to see a 320d down the pod pre/post re-map or tuning box. (stock i estimate 15.6-15.8@92ishmph) I think there cracking cars. Brian's goes like stink with the spider box. There are no ''sub groups'' anyone and everyone is welcome at any meets. Come on you know you want to.

Alan size is imaterial ............. stamina is what counts.
As for the forum, there is indeed a mix of characters lol. As for BMW's I still like them, just had two in 21 months that's all Woman's prerogative to change her mind............and variety is the spice of life they say. Are you coming to the northern mini-meet then? |

Helen and CD, I am going to try and make the "northern" meet as it seems to avoid the worst of the motorways.
JJ, no need to chill out as I wasn't protesting about anything, I was praising In fact, any southerners who make it that far north and brave the bleeding noses from the altitude, I'll spring them a couple of beers to make them feel better. |

Do we have an agreed venue yet?
One thing I am looking forward to is looking at options that I wish I'd got in other peoples cars to see if I am right in thinking "I wish I had ordered..." |

Looking like it may be Harrogate as a meeting point.
Have you voted on a preferred date yet on the thread Alan? |

Yep, it is a pretty special place.
Been here since December '05.... and I didn't get an E9x until September '07.

Me too.. agree..
I rarely post, unfortunately never met any of you, but I always get sound advice and fun posts to read to break up my rather stressful thoughts. Unfortunately, though I have a large engine, I cannot afford any mods, the fuel alone get a bit much sometimes... the wonders of not having a decent job and doing postgrad studies instead. Still never feel any pressure to do anything or indeed get any sort of issues over my limited spec or lack of posts. |

This is a great place and some good banter.
Some of the arseholes on pistonheads just show you what other places are like. I must say that normally I can't be bothered with meets with forum members, because although we share a passion with cars, or av, or photography, or whatever, it would normally end there. But I can tell that the guys on here genuinely just enjoy life and have a pretty cool outlook on it. I can also tell you lot have the same shite sense of humor that I also have, so I really must make and effort to get to one of the meets. Is the northern meet going to be a night away?? Few beers in the evening?? |

Having been around on this forum for what seems like a lifetime, I can also say that it is great.
I'd like to see more 320's at meets, as I seem to be the only one that turns up in anything less than a 330 most of the time. It's not about 1/4 miles etc - it's about being part of a group that appreciates the car. I love to drive enthusiastically and hope I don't hold the 335 boys up too much. I too have made good friends on here and hope they continue to post after they have sold their e90's. Am really looking forward to the Northern meet - soft lager drinking southerners are welcome

Gotta say as newbie to this place, but a high poster on Audi Sport and been on golf forums for a while, including running my own www.modsquadgolf.com (shameless plug). This place is very very friendly and helpful. More so than most. I've still got a soft spot for ASN
In my short time here i've had several very very very helpful PM's. I can't believe the guys took the time to type and pm me. But its very appreciated. Hopefully one day when i actually have a clue about what i'm talking about i can reciprocate or pass on the info. Even more so, i've seen the same piece of advice typed several times in my short time on here. On 99% of forums the "use the search" button smiley would have been posted and that would be that. But i've gotta say i'm sure we all notice it and appreciate it. So i'll be around here for some time. And i'll try not to bore people with the boot button, progman updates, pairing phones or the USB retrofit, as that's all i seem to go on about Keep up the good work! |
