Just saying IMO I prefer sealed intakes...just search for sealed intakes vs. open air filters and you will come to your own conclusion pretty soon

Lots of nice and clean options out there for sealed too...

Was going to go with Cobb, but read too many reports about fitting, even from a dealer. No need for meth, but wouldn't mingled the option of beefing up the blow offs maybe later. So, plan to go OEM ER to start with. For the same price as BMW Sh!t plastic, I can have something more permanent. The OEM resource is great, maybe just not for this part.

Next would be the air filters. I'm looking at Burger. Maybe then the Stage 1. One question though. After I replace the CP,will I need to reset the codes to get the car to run properly?

Funny to hear your dealer story. I've had an 03 330 since new in 03, and the only shop I've taken it to was the alignment shop after warranty. I hate them!

Thanks for propping me up! I was really bummed out last night. Thought I blew out the turbos. I know - rookie!

Kevin
Before you start doing other relatively minor mods beyond the CP, why don't you get a tune? There are plenty of people who haven't done anything beyond replacing the crap CP and are running the off the shelf stage 1 on MHD Flasher, with quite satisfying results. That's what I would do. In fact, it's what I did before deciding to go FBO, get a stage 2 LPFP, etc.

I need to fight the steering wheel to correct straight line acceleration even in 3rd. and this is with subframe inserts.

I know it will never handle as a sub 3,000 lb car but who cares? There are
plenty of heavy GT cars that are very capable and that is where I want to be at. I am planning to shave a bit of weight to get my curb weight down - maybe recaro seats, a braille 20 lb battery and get myself down to sub 150 lbs by laying off the burgers

i considered a K miata but im waiting for more progress on the k series swap before i seriously consider it.

I am likely going to get some solid aluminim subframe bushings, LSD and the full Ohlins R&T setup and reevaluate from there.

i have watched almost all of the R reviews on youtube and one thing i noticed: it doesnt scream "oh shit this car is going to kill me"... the reviewers have a smile but does not have the excitement factor that I get with the tuned 335... I suppose im gonna give my IS another shot and see where it takes me.

I just upgraded to solid subframe bushings, Ohlins and LSD + some other goodies like Swift 672lb rear springs, M3 F + R control arms and guide rods, RD Sport F + R sway bars, Megan adjustable toe arms and Vorshlag camber plates and the difference is obviously night and day!

It drives like a dream now, the wiggle/squirm - unstable aspect of our high tq output has completely gone away. Oh and the Ohlins R&T are just WOW!

Every iS owner owes it to there car and themselves to at least get a LSD and solid subframe bushings to see how it transforms our cars from good to AMAZING!

Nice... you are giving me some hope here!

What subframe bushings did you go with? Solid aluminum?

LSD, LSD, LSD! Transforms the car beyond belief (and some TMS Delrin/aluminum RSFB's).

Looks great though.

I bet the LSD does. Unfortunately, it also classes the car up to A class (stock it is maxed out in B class), where my current driving skills would make me even less competitive.

I will have a few months over the winter where I can't drive the car and can take my time on installing some mods. Bushings and revised suspension pieces won't hit me, but shocks/springs/bars will. Are the RSFB's the most important to change? Any others that have a big impact?

RSFB make a huge difference in the rear. I have the black power flex and they're rock solid along with all the M3 bits front and rear. Can you upgrade shocks and springs if they're factory parts?

Shocks just can't be Adjustable. Rulebook says the springs can't be "Non-Stock Springs (Lowered)" or "Cut or Special Springs".

I'm not sure if this would be skirting the rules but the BMW performance springs and shocks tighten things up nicely. It only drops it maybe 5mm, not enough to notice, and the shocks look exactly the same as the stockers.

Ahhh, I understand then. Yeah, my car isn't for timed competition. I do need to make it to auto cross and the track more. That's a bit tough then since you're basically fully limited and, most unfortunate, stuck with the under rebound damped stock dampers.

Very nice though.
Scales are different and torque chart unit is Nm.

High power run at 5250, call it ~515Nm = 380 ft lb, ~380hp
Doh, my bad!

Not to steal the above's thunder, but I picked this up two Saturdays ago. Flew to Mississippi from Ohio and drove it back stopping in Nashville halfway through. 2011 87k miles, well maintained fully loaded. My first non manual, so I'm getting used to the DCT. Anyone try the DCT flash?
