Ladies and gentlemen forums are where people come to brag or piss and moan about a car they bought.
Fact You bought a 335 with 75K miles Virtually every BMW I know of needs a lot of care if the BMW CBS was followed at around 80-100K miles. Sounds to me like you bought a 335 that someone has run the ever loving piss out of. I have 55K miles of flawless operation on my 335 so tell me are all 335's POS's? Did you happend to do a pre purchase inspection? I ask because you have over 200 posts which tells me you read the forum and would know that a used 335 should have a serious inspection done. None of the items you mentioned are hard to repair or expensive if you do it yourself. However if you rely on the dealer for service on this car you will be paying a lot of money. Also it would not matter that much what brand car you have because dealership charge on the average 100 bucks plus per hour so even a Toyota with a transmission or other leak that takes service time will cost a lot of money. BMWs require periodic maintenance, always have most likely always will, so do virtually all German cars. It is their philosophy. Virtually any BMW can last 50K miles with 2-3 oil changes and cabin filter and wiper blades. It is 25-30K miles after that (the mileage you have) that this lack of real service shows up. Lack of due diligence will cost you a lot of money on Porsche, BMW, Merc every time. I would have to assume these leaks were there when you bought the car but were not noticed. If you bought the car "as is" no warranty express or implied you have no course of action. It could well be the dealership you bought it from had no idea of the condition of the car since they just buy and resell. I bet the original owner certainly did know about this however and might be why it was traded. Hard lesson but unless you are handy stay away from Porsche, BMW and or Merc. unless you buy new. As mentioned it is not the brand it is the car you bought... |

Zero issues with my N55. Of course, I'm only 10k deep. A little whine here, a squeak or clatter there. It's 15-30 degrees out on average lately. No regrets.

I think you are fine as long as you buy a car under warranty.. That is what I did bought mine with 40k miles so if anything major went wrong within the next year 10k miles they would take care of it.. Kinda gives you some protection from being a car that was beat but just fixed enough to not show any problems until you drive away.

Sounds about time since gasket are bound to fail. That's why i chose to buy aftermarkettle warranties. BMW are know for their quality not so much for their reliability

M.Money W. on Wallet Like many ppl said, find a good shop outside and probably by now you've got some leads. Don't feel bad. A used car, no matter what brand, always needs some money initially. Yes, the maintenance will be little higher, but the driving pleasure, handling and other things will make you forget that. Good luck. |

Maybe your first BMW should have been a non turbo, or at least the N55 instead of the N54, which is a very high maintenance engine above 50k miles. Hopefully you can find a good Indy shop. Look for a BMW CCA recommended shop and you will probably be ok and save a bunch over the dealer.
As said before me, BMW's high performance systems are engineered to very a very fine tolerence making parts more expensive and requiring higher skilled technicians to diagnose and fix. The most skilled technicians are found at independent shops as dealers rarely retain techs too long as they cut into the profit the dealer needs to support it's overhead when they demand higher pay. Yes a dealer will typically follow the specified methods of repair and if under warranty, only use new genuine parts, but they don't get to see enough high mileage cars to be efficient in repair and maintenance. BMW = Broke My Wallet

Did you do a PPI? If not you should have, especially when buying a high milage car that is known to be problematic. The best thing you can do is try to get the dealer you bought it from to repair the car, that's about the only thing you can do at this point, because I'm pretty sure a 07 335i with high milage was sold as-is, and I don't see the use in paying a lawyer to go after them when nine times out of ten it will result in nothing happening. Get a classic BMW like an e30. I have one and there great cars! I just rebuilt the engine, trans, did the interior in saddle brown, and did the electrical. When it's painted I'm selling my 335i and using the e30 as my DD. If you could, try to get a 2011 335i mines hasn't given any problems not even any squeaks.

Even the high performance Japanese cars suffer at higher mileage. No makes 300+ hp turbo engines provide long term reliability without increased maintenance cost. If you want a soulless slushbox, a Japanese people mover may be the right car for you.

2007 was the first year for 335s... they were still working out the kinks
don't let this make you hate BMW! I know I'm never going to leave BMW. but I do usually get cars with a warranty
