They're not the factory ranches, so there aren't that many cows that wallow in filth. Plenty of bugs flying about.

I LOL'd so hard after reading your comment.

But anyway a few months ago I switched my stock air filter to K&N and notice a few small insects and I've had the scoops installed a year ago. I don't think it's that bad.

Wait, so you're telling me an air filter only lets air flow through?

If you changed it to k&n drop-in filter or euro airbox with cone-shapped filter, i doubt bugs can fly in

Yeah they still get in, but they just pile up in the base of the airbox - I vacuumed out two wasps and a huge moth last time I checked mine!

Intake air scoops do not add anything to performance, because engine air intake is negative pressure under load, like a vacuum. Engine will suck the air it needs. Force feeding it into the engine will not help. You are only feeding dirt, bugs, and water into the intake.

If these cheap pieces of plastic actually helped with anything, BMW would have installed them on the car at the factory. Don't be idiots, remove these things off your car.
Becasue forced induction does not add power right?

If you think a couple of scoops equal to "forced induction", you should let BMW know so they can install these $2 plastic parts at the factory.

It is commonly thought that the purpose of the air inlet above the driver is to 'ram' air into the engine like a supercharger, but the airbox does the opposite. The carbon fibre duct gradually widens out as it approaches the engine, effectively creating a venturi and a suction effect on the small air inlet.
