Take it to Mr. Lube.
Heard those guys do a really good job there, they'll even change your wiper blades and you don't even have to get out of the car. A bunch of young fellas that really care and have done many bmw's. If that's not service I don't know what is. |

Oil change is very simple. DIY is more easier.
oil quality is not serious concern, most importance is frequency. Change oil within 10000km max. I recommend Motul 8800 5w-40 which is more expensive but castrol 5w-40 is good if you change it within 10000km. Walmart sell $45/5l is the cheapest. For Motul you can try Germanparts. |

I've had a KTM where the OE recommended oil was Motul. We joked on the adventure motorcycling boards that that oil was made from virgin unicorn tears...

Very different views on oil.
Either they are looking for the cheapest oil change in a 50k (and up) vehicle. Or buying the most expensive, equating cause it cost more it is better even if not right type. I would tend to think that the manufacture would know the best oil. They did design it? (I will tend to not agree with the long interval-as I think that gets into government interference like ethanol) In the end it is your car and you can use whatever you like. -even French fry oil!-lol Just remember the piston goes up and down 100 times a second while your driving down the 401 and over 200 times a second when showing off
