It seems ok to me, wrinkles do not bother me. Bring it in, see what they can do. Me personally aside from it's time consuming and disturbing the integrity of the seat, having it replaced with the same leather material from BMW might work in a few days, but then it' ll probably end up just like now.

if you really want to go through with asking your dealership to replace the leather cover, do it right before your warranty period is up. Because, eventually the new cover will look the same as what's depicted in your picture, so might as well do it right when the warranty is about to expire.

Your Audi and most Japanese cars dont show wear on the leather because it's cheap thick and tanned with chemicals that will prevent it from looking natural. Leather looks great when it's naturally aged and BMW has always had high quality soft leather that will show wear over the years. Most people I know like the patina that time gives to leather.

To the OP. Unlike Audi BMW leather is designed to be less tightly applied to the seat. What you experience may not be to your liking, but it is as intended by BMW, allow the leather to wrinkle and have some folds in it. Audi tightens the leather on its seats to prevent this from happening. Sounds like that is what you like, BMW does not do this on purpose. I actually like the wrinkles, like a leather coat it adds character to the seats.

Your photo does not show abnormal wear and tear - I dont belive that the dealer can help you on this one.

Holy Crap.... I agree with The Cleaner? Well stranger things have happened.

But yeah, Patina is the word I was looking for yesterday. I learned a lot about leather when I was ordering that Chair. One of the most important things I learned is that the cheap leathers are often more stain resistant and tough, though yeah, they lack a good feel and look odd.

So condition your leather, and be happy but yeah I wouldn't go in ask the dealer to replace the leather cause it's wrinkled though you may be able to reduce the wrinkles simply by shifting a little relieving the stress on the leather before settling in.

Honestly from the picture it looks fine to me. I know people's tolerances for certain things are different. If you feel like it does not live up to your expectations then bring it in to the dealer and kindly but firmly state your point.

BTW, the leather on my Audi is not cheap. It is Nappa leather on Recaro seats

Audi seats do have incredibly taut leather- mine 330i has 4900 miles and looks just like yours- even some of the seats that are rarely used.

The dealer might be more prone to replace the seat if perhaps the stitching were to be comming undone say around the side bolsters...

I check my '03 X5 and 335i and both show some wrinkles and folds on both driver side and passenger side (my wife weights 110 lbs.), but they are considered "normal" as they provide seating comfort and flexibility.

If you think this is bad, you will "freak" out if you get a pair of leather shoes from Gucci, Prada, Bruno Magli, or Ferragamo. The leathers will show wrinkles and folds in days, not weeks. Good leather finishing tend to have some wrinkles and folds to provide wearing comfort and flexibility.

What you're seeing is completely normal. It will get even more pronounced over time. Leather is a natural material, and the way these seats are made, there is enough slack in the material to allow it to stretch and wrinkle naturally.

Saying it's not acceptable is like saying that it's not acceptable for the tread on your tires to wear over time....

Do you have any leather furniture at home? If so, you should notice that it does the same thing.
