why would LCI e92 come out in March/April?
I have been on the fence on whether to get the e92 now or wait until March/April. The 2500 holiday credit is hard to pass up. Currently I do not have car (it was totaled in an accident) and have been renting (~600 - 800/month) a car from Enterprise / Hertz for the past couple of months.
Since I've waited this long, a couple of more months doesn't seem that much longer. My question: why would BMW do a LCI for the 2011 e92 in March/April instead of late summer? Seems very odd since the 2010 just came out in October! |

I am guessing that the e92 LCI model was not ready by Sep '09 for the MY 2010 debut.

That's because the global recession and increasing competition from Audi and Merc have forced BMW to bring out the LCI sooner. There are numerous threads on this forum already supporting the notion that the current model year will be shortened.

i've been unable to find anything cheaper - like monthly rates. the rates above are the best the rental companies are able to offer me. i have been going a couple of days a week without renting to save some money. but not having a car is a bit inconvenient. but luckily i am able to walk to most places like the grocery store, gym or take cabs. |

Ouch, tough situation. That is a lot of money in car rental! Why not buy a used 335, like an 07? Half the price and most of the features.

Don't you have a friend to borrow you a car for some time...?

LCI will be getting:
- minor cosmetic changes (a few threads on this) - apparently minor changes to interior trim and new color(s) - (it's been hinted) an upgraded version of the 335i motor, like a 335is? - minor tech updates, re brake energy regeneration, additional minor improvements to iDrive? Maybe I'm missing some things, but overall, should be a minor refresh. Pricing, deals, things added or removed as standard = dunno. Although likely refreshed models wouldn't come with "deals", at least not at first. You would know yourself best. Would you regret it if the new one came out and you didn't have these changes?

In addition to the holiday credit of 2500, a couple of dealers are offering really great deals. Even if I have to place a special order to build the car with all the options that I want, they would still honor the price of car of: invoice + 400 to 500. Factor in holiday credit, and price is invoice minus 2000 to 2100.

$800/mo toward Enterprise rentals?! You might as well buy something cheap for a few months and resell it later. If the E92 LCI is what you want, wait for it - but don't keep putting $800/mo into Enterprise's pocket for another 4 months.

i really appreciate the suggestion about leasing. i've never leased before and just found the bimmerfest forum - ask a dealer section. so i'll take a look to see if leasing would make sense.
I'm a bit nervous the 12-15k miles a year for a lease. i think i might go ahead and buy the '10 e92, keep it for 2-3 years until the F30 coupe comes out. |

Buy a $1000 car and resell it to carmax. That is assuming you MUST wait for the E92 LCI.
I would go E90 LCI. I went from a 2006 325 to an 2007 E92 328 for just about the same reason. I actually wish I would have gone E90 in hindsight. Now it looks like Im saving up for the F30 sedan in about 2-3 years time. |

yea go buy a cheap car and then resell or at worse case trade it in on the car. You wont lose any more on trading it in than you are giving Hertz every month. But everyone shoud have a beater/backup form of transportation!
