Wow op. Been there. Looks like those headlight washers are doing a poor job at keeping the lenses clean.

My 3 series stays in my garage during the winter.
Some of you may think it's crazy but to me, I've been there and done that with a nice car. Salt rust the rotors, gets all up in the engine bay and under body. I rather preserve and protect my investment. I'm fortunate enough to be able to have a second car to drive.

This is exactly it! Why drive a clunker car when you will be SOO much safer in your BMW.

Plus you then have added costs for Gas, Insurance, the actual clunker... VS simply buying snow tires.

335i is a great winter beater, especially with RWD.

it doesn't bother me to much... i wash mine every week, if i see that much salt I'll wash it right away.

I have a season pass for car washes though... 90 days and it works out to 2.50 a wash... you always have to make sure you winter prep your car though.

Ottawa too.. I buy a Petro wash card and wash my car in the touchless wash almost daily, swapping the car to my wife to wash her mini every couple days. I also Krown the car every year and inspect for rusty hardware or chips.. I find them every spring and repair them.

I don't think the southerners can appreciate the amount of salt on the road, or why we need it, but damn it makes a mess of stuff.

I have an E30 that's parked until the rain has fully washed the salt off the road for this reason.

Reminds me of a thread back in 2007, where someone was saying how a 328i was so lowly with its 200 lbs. ft. etc. etc. etc. (a 335i owner), and someone with a 2k6 325i said 325i owners might as well just shoot ourselves...lol

If you like it, and it means something to you, you have every right to take care of your stuff....

Unfortunately Quebec is known for there use of road salt and as a result the rest of Canada tends to steer clear of any car from that province, all the aluminum is corroded with a thick chalky residue and corrosion, not to mention every other piece of metal on the car.....sorry.

blackbeast you had RUST on an e90?!
yeah it was on my 2006 325. it. started last year on the inner lower front corner of the driver door. i tried to wash my car after every snow storm but the storms were very frequent. around where i live there is a layer of salt on the road at all times and they are constantly spraying that magnesium chloride. rotors were getting rusty also. if you drive any car in the winter around here it will get ruined by either salt or potholes.

Ugh... looks just like my car. I think I'm going to have to find a touchless wash that's open; the DIY hand wash bay place down the street isn't open when it's too close to freezing I don't dare take it through a non-brushless car wash after having a paint correction done...

If power was what you were after, then no "deal" should have been good enough to change your mind.

And debadge? Oh my god lol. To fool people that we have 70 more hp?

True, but I don't think I've ever seen "salt barnacales" before! Ha. OP looks like his car took a swim in the ocean! I drive the GTA area daily, but only occasionally downtown. Barrie uses the liquid pre-snow stuff which seems ok, but the highways are using the rock-salt paint-destroyer crap now. Yuk!
