YA: 2011 328i misfiring cylinder; started with cyl 4, after swap multiple cyl reporte
Hey guys,
The check engine light came up, check the code and it was a P0304 cylinder #4 misfiring. Did a search and read up on it. First step was to swap out coil and spark plug with another cylinder to see if it tracks. Swapped cylinder #4 -> cylinder #1. Ran the check and cylinder #4 and cylinder #1 reported. Glad it moved but surprised #4 was still showing. Then moved cylinder #1 (original #4) -> cylinder #2. Ran the check and now, cylinder #1, #4 and #6 shows up. Cylinder #6 definitely was not touched, not it's being flagged? Am I doing something wrong? What should be my next step, go ahead order 6 new spark plugs and 2-3 coils? thanks in adv guys! |

Make sure you clear the codes after each swap. and why swap both plug and coil at the same time? You Need to swap just one; i.e. swap coil to check coil first (easiest). Then proceed to plug.
How many miles on the car?

Thanks for the reply - I have a dashcommander app; I've cleared the codes with each swap and they all show up in the Pending category after each read.
One thing though, there is a category of stored codes which I cannot cleared and cylinder #4 is always there. 52k miles on the car |
