Useful guys, thx.
Mine lost all my voice dialing numbers but not pairing. It screwed my phone book up, it now lists surname, firstname when I have my iPhone contacts store the other way around. I had to fix the date back to Uk as well. I'll be mentioning this when the car goes in. It's going to be with them for about a week, clutch, graunchy front suspension, front bumper repaint all at their cost and a service at mine. Roll on Monday... |

judder 320d 59 reg
hi guys- recently went to bmw dealer. went on test[with tech] obvious judder on hill start at circa 12-1300 revs . returned to service dept. who suggested we go out in similar car. can't believe it -yes did exactly the same thing.
back to dealer who said it was a design issue [sic] and not an individual fault and i would be liable for further inspection and there is no specific fix. however they would give the result of inspection to bmw to see if it is covered on warranty. any tips appreciated -john |

It's warranty replacement for a well documented issue. Don't be fobbed off with the threat of costs. Put your foot down and demand...
Mine went in on Monday and haven't heard a word from them since! I'm jollying around in a 318D Exclusive Edition and guess what, with 2K on the clock it's clutch judders like buggery! |

Well it's back with me and such a difference, nicely weighted, smooth action, and best of all no judder.
I keep pulling away from a stop expecting it to judder but so far (3 miles...) so good. Replaced the front bump stops, reset the airbag warning light and the bumper repair look very good. Looks like any software update hasn't killed my settings either I did ask for a service price quote but they forgot. For brake fluid change, oil, filter and aircon microfilter they've said £275. Will leave it to August when the oil is due. Have to buy some summer tyres first. Happy man I am.... S |

Just to add to the "solutions" posts. I've had my Jan 2010 E93 320d cab since May 2011 and noticed judder on hill starts in particular and in reverse it was worse. Mileage is now only a little over 12,000. Finally decided to mentioned the matter on Monday when it was in having winter tyres swapped to summer after I noticed the thread on here about a probable solution being offered. The dealer sent a report to BMW and speculated that they might advise either a software upgrade or a replacement clutch. Phone call the next day saying BMW had advised a new clutch under warranty...booked in later this month for the fix. Estimated one day job (about 5 hours labour).
I look forward to posting the outcome.

It's night and day!
Drove the car about 100 miles over the weekend and in full traffic this morning and I'm very happy. The clutch is so much lighter in operation and bite is around mid-point. No faffing, no power dip, just proper pull-away and acceleration. I honestly don't think I've had a BMW that has had such good clutch action since my 95 318iS. Get those warranty claims in guys! |

would the revised clutch apply to pre lci cars aswell?
I have a 55 plate 318 petrol and have been suffering for the past 2 years, mainly in cold weather but seems to be getting worse recently. Any idea how much it costs? Id like to buy and get my local indy to fit if possible. |

Hi Guys,
I have 320I and experienced this problem from day one. Feels like clutch never engages properly giving a noticeable feeling of power loss. Clutch judder increases over time. Have had the car for 60,000km and have had 2 clutch changes. Now the dealer is telling me this problem and fix is only applicable to the diesels, and looking down the thread, everyone seems to be driving diesels. Does anyone know if petrol's are also susceptible? 'Cos it sure seems like it to me (exact same problem description) Any feedback would be appreciated. |

Not just 320's of either species - my 330d is going in on Tuesday for it FOURTH clutch in 18,000 miles . . .
The service guy was on about 'Vibrations from the crankshaft causing the clutch face to wear unevenly'. Hope the new one works properly . . . They said the last would . . . and the one before . . . and the one before . . . Captain SlowCoach

i get it too.
But it comes and goes. Mostly noticable if i have clutched out without giving enough gas Then the vibration is deffinately there. With a little throttle the vibration is gone. So ive leanred to ballance the clutch better and touch the gas while clutching out.. no vibrations Its annoying though, because if the wife drives it, its all over the place
