Louder exhaust note?

OK, so I was one of the guys who chopped off my stock 335d exhaust for an aftermarket one in hopes that it would produce a sportier, louder exhaust note. Nope, nada, no can do........a.k.a it didn't make a difference. Anyway, after having this aftermarket exhaust for 2 years now I must say that every time the ERG comes on to burn the NOX gasses while I'm driving the exhaust sounds much more noticeably louder. Nevertheless, after the fan goes off its back to being too quiet. I can't remember this happening with the stock exhaust. Anyone else with aftermarket mufflers notice this?

OK, just so you won't feel all alone. But this won't answer your question. Honestly I have never experienced/noticed anything with respect to the quoted item above. How would I even know this was happening? I have close to 10K miles on the odometer. Once in a while it gets a bit noisy when I have come back home and parked it in the garage and turned off the engine.

This is what I'm talking about, but its only when the car is actually being driven. I have also had the car parked in the garage and the erg mechanism comes on while the car is off, but when it comes on while I'm driving, whenever I'm accelerating the exhaust sounds noticeably louder. I don't know any other way to explain it. I hope this helps.

How did you chop up your stock cat-back? It didn't produce any audible difference?

Can you elaborate on your modifications to your cat-back.
