Would perhaps think twice about painting the calipers...

Unless you use proper "caliper paint" that radiates heat...

It's only a niggle, but potentially normal paint can "retain" the heat and "could" lead to fade, etc....

Probably wouldn't affect 90% of people but if you push it, well...

rust issues

I had two calls today ,one to dealer and one to BMW hq uk ,to be honest i didnt get any real satisfaction ,My only saving is my friend who has worked there for 24 yrs quit last wk so when i tell the service guy if i dont get 100% exactly what i want that ill be going else where due to my customer loyalty went out the door with jez,I have had my wife tell me they are useless now and how wonderfull they used to be .

I have been buying new BMW since 1993 and i have bought 7 and none have had this issue with rusty hubs to be honest i am more than happy to have a big falling out with them and take my buisness somewhere else but im sure that they are all the same

Surely yours don't look too bad with the number of spokes in those big 19" M style alloys?? Mine look quite bad with the amount of space between the 5 big spokes, and I guess Carlo's look much the same as his 5 spokes are even thinner!

I have just sent the email off, with 4 pics attached to see what they say. I haven't mentioned this to the dealers yet, but want to see what HQ say first. I'll let you know.

Update - they have sent me an automatic email back... thanking me for emailing them, and one of their 'executives' will respond shortly. If its urgent, I can phone them!

Worth a try, I think.

The worst outcome would be for them to do absolutely nothing, I suppose.

I'll set-up a poll- easier to collect a list of members that way. If you're unhappy about the state of your wheel hubs, then just add to the poll.

We could post photos of our hubs as evidence.

Once there's a sizeable number on there, it can be sent off to BMW UK CS, a bit like a petition, & we'll see how long it takes for them to do sweet FA.

Carl- we can't use that as evidence- you haven't been photochopping that photo, have you?

Here, use this instead, ok.

There is never an excuse for the rust in my opinion, however yours do not look bad at all compared to mine, and this is why I think they have agreed to replace all parts.

I will take a picture tomorrow to hightlight the severity of my problem.

cheers

Carlos, they're talking about hubs looking bad, not wheels. Get those puppies cleaned up!

Right, here's some bad pictures taken by my phone today but it highlights the problem I had with the hubs (discs) and calipers. As i previously stated BMW have agreed to replace all as a goodwill gesture and made it quite clear that the parts are not covered under warrenty.

They have also agreed to replace all brake pads due to the new discs. So it's a result but it took me about 6 months of moaning and complaining & numerous calls to Bracknell to sort out.

Here they are, what are your thoughts?
