Good price on 335i sedan?

I am looking at ordering a 335i sedan soon. The dealership near me said they charge 3% below MSRP. Is that a good price?

If you buy at the price they offer, then its definitely not a good deal. BUT, just because you haggle and get your way, that also doesnt mean its a good deal.

Why dont you ask them "How many dollars over invoice are you willing to sell for? <wait for answer> What does that make the out the door price?"

Then call up the next dealer. "Dealer X said they will give me the car for $Z over invoice. Can you beat that deal? By how much? <wait for answer> What does that make the out the door price?"

Then call up dealer X. "I spoke with Dealer Y, they gave me $Y over invoice. Can you beat that? By how much? <wait for answer> What does that make the out the door price?".

Rinse, Lather, repeat as necessary.

Yeah, the fact that they offered that price straightaway makes me think I can negotiate lower. But then I read about others here who can only get the MSRP from the dealer.

Another thing for me to consider is tax rate. The sales tax rate from the dealer closer to me is 1% less than in the Seattle area. The closer dealer is the one offering 3% below MSRP. The Seattle area dealer says they sell at 2% below MSRP. So that's really 2 percentage points less than the Seattle area.

It's a good price if it sounds good to you. If you're in a small market, with only one dealership. How much is it worth to not have to drive long distances to get your car. There will likely be better deals in big metropolitan areas where several dealers compete for business, but there are also many people who pay MSRP. As a benchmark, there are many who buy for $1000 over invoice (which I think is close to MSRP - 4%). But this close to new release, those deals are hard to find.
So my guess is that, for the Tri Cities, in September, you've got a decent deal.

3% off MSRP is decent right now...so about $1200 off a $40K MSRP.

Thanks for the additional feedback. I'm thinking it's not a bad price either. FYI this is at a dealer in Yakima. For some reason we don't have a new BMW dealer in the Tri-Cities, even though we are much larger than Yakima.

Additional Other OPTIONS:
