please don't demo my car!

my soon to arrive e92 335 is i'm told the "launch vehicle" for my dealership. as such i'm concerned that the salespeople may, understandably, want to drive it but the last thing that i want is a parade of lead-foots who want to "see what she'll do" breaking in my car for me! what's the best way to prevent the dealership from ravaging MY vehicle and how many factory miles should i expect to be on it? thanks.

Get it in writing...delivery miles only, not more than 5 miles on the clock. Better yet, follow up closely with your CA, insist you'd like to be there when the car is rolled off the truck. You'll have to wait one more day while they PDI your car before you can drive her home, though but you can make note of the exact mileage and condition.

Might be a good time to remind them not to put dealer stickers/decals on the car, as well.

i'm already planning on that, i'm gonna allow the license plate bracket, at least it's easily removable, but definitely no stickum on My paint; why is it that dealers feel the need to do both the bracket and the decal-if that ain't an outrage!

my car have been hold in dealership for 3 days, just for display, because its their first Xi model, but i told my sales, no one is going to test drive my car. (because my sales let me test drive the e90 which is sold to someone else, sorry for that owner, i did drive it hard, hehee). So when i pick up my car, it only have 1.6 miles on it.

It would be better if they don't drive your car, but if they do demo your car see if you can get a dealer add-on for free... like a rear lip spoiler or something like that.

there is no reason why they should drive it at all. You were promised a new car. It should only have delivery kilometers on it.

I took delivery of my car with 8km on the odometer... there should be no more than this on your new car... tell them as such and that you won't accept the car if it has anything more on it.

Good point about getting it in writing. Since my e90 335i will be in the first batch getting to my dealer I was worried about this.

Maybe something like .... For each mile over the mileage of the car when delivered $100 will be deduced from the final price.

not sure, but if they let someone else drive your car, you won't even know. just like they let me test drive a car that have "sold" red sticker on it. my sales just told me drive carefully, because the owner will pick up at the following day.

this is an intelligent concern OP. I'd do the same.

My car came with 3 miles on it, of course it was a 325i, your car may come with more.. lol. I hope not.

Seriously, be there when it rolls of the truck, and tell 'em straight up to better not even THINK of driving it.

congrats

Similar situation happened to me, My E90 330i was one of the first produced here, The car sat at the dealership for 3 weeks parked in the basement (I regularly went to visit) and I could not take delivery until BMW had their E90 Launch party. Then they requested to use my car at the party for display and to be driven on and off the stage, you have no idea what I went through that night ,

But seriously they should not be allowed to drive your car, mine was taken on a truck to the party and after the party I took her home, Just tell them you paying that kind of money for a new car, not a company demo
