there should be a majority of us 07 335i leases ending sometime soon. how much are you guys negotiating your car for and what was the original residual after lease?

i just want a guage to see how much people are able to buyout their cars as my residual is pretty high so im exploring my options.

I'm planning on buying mine next March. Residual is $29200. I've heard that if you let BMWNA make the first contact then sometimes you can get a lower price. We'll see.

Does BMWNA always contact you before the lease ends?

The lease on my 2007 E92 is up in August and BMW contacted me 10 days ago to explain my options. I told them if the deal was right that I would consider a buy-out. He came back with a $1500 rebate and that's where our discussion ended.

Today I stopped by my dealer to haggle a bit but the "Lease Guy" isn't in on Saturday. I was told to expect a call from him on Monday. I'll pass on my findings. I did shoot the breeze with the sales manager and he indicated that the lease guy has the final word. We'll see.

If I do buy it, I would like it to be CPO'd. How negotiable is this? BMW's finance rates are much better for CPO cars and this would certainly make my car worth more and easier to sell when I'm done with it another 2 years or so.

I'm curious... if you only plan on keeping your car for another 2 years, then why bother buying out your lease?

Good question.

I'm liking the 335 enough to drive it for a while longer, but I've owned many cars and never keep anything for more than 4 years. If I were to lease another 335, it would be the same exact color combo and configuration. Also, this car has been virtually trouble free and not all are. So why not keep it for couple of years?

This car is not my daily driver and I consistantly log about 8000 miles a year on my "weekend" car. I'm pretty confident that two years from now, this CPO'd car with roughly 35,000 miles would not be a tough sell. It's fun to drive and not really a bad investment for me at this point.

Now, what I really want is dump the leased car and buy a low miles, well kept E39 M5. They can be had for well less than my 335. However, in this (or any) economy, this may not be the wise move. Most E39 M5's have no existing warranty, are massively expensive to repair and suck gas at nearly twice the rate of my 335. Risky, but let's be honest here. That never stopped anyone.
