Dudes, the guy is just posting pictures of cars he detailed, same as I do in the Canada section of the forum. I don't see any product pushing, just a quality detail.

quick question for beginners.
i really dont have much tools but as far as exterior is concerned, what are some necessary things i should get?
i simply have towel, soap, wax, and drying towel. i also have scratch remover, tar remover and a little stuffs besides those but whenever i see pro detailers, it seems like there's more than just that.
also, i am not using no name brands neither. they are not the top notch products but i'd say about average products.

i will be getting my 3rd car this february (ordering 335i) and liked to learn some things so i can improve myself.
thanks!

oh one other thing, what are above average products that you recommend? i use like meguairs, turtle, mother and etc...

BK, it might be the soap used?

Does the foam gun really speed up the washing process? What benefits do you see in having one?

It has 6 settings, from low dilution (1oz per 12 gallon) to high dilution (1oz per gallon). With a good soap and higher dilution you can make a birthday cake foamy car too. FMINUS may be using a different gun too; the gilmore is just the most popular.

I love mine; the time spent is virtually the same, but you use so much less pressure with a mitt (should you use one), and if you use the gun on mildly dirty car with a good LSP on it you can go right from the gun to a pressure washer, no wash medium required...and we all know less touching = less marring. There are a bunch of posts on using foam guns on Autopia.

I've been looking for the equipment to create such foaming action as well.. From my understanding, there is a difference between the foam gun and the foam cannon. The former is the garden hose hook up type, while the latter is one that is similar but hooks up to a pressure washer. Please correct me if Im wrong.

Thanks for the review Kevin. Using no medium is good! I think I'll have to buy this, it works for when it's really cold here in California. I think it was high 40s the other day.

What soap/dilution do you use with this btw? Capful or two?

You're right. They work similarly; the canon creates a bit more foam, but uses more soap. Same idea.

You can do it one of two ways; either fill the gun with soap and water and let the incoming water further dilute it (which means you'll usually leave it on a low dilution setting), or you can fill the gun with straight soap, and leave it on a low dilution. I usually fill it 50% of the way with soap and just leave it on the highest dilution; so it uses about 6-8oz of soap total. I either use Poorboys Super Slick Suds or Chemical Guys Citrus Soap (which is friggen awesome in a foam gun).

I don't think this is an 07 S2000. I think maybe an 05 unless the wheels are aftermarket but they look old. Came with 17" wheels in 06.

Ah, it was the Tire Gel I had (kinda a thicker consistency liquid, right?), but I found that the product didn't last too long. One week, maybe two weeks max. Does that sound about right?

And, you guys would be jealous of me....I'm local to Ranney (Pakshak) and can pick up all my products from him without paying for shipping Ranney's a great guy too; very personable and knows his shiz about detailing. He even found some Menz PO85RD that he brought in, only AFTER I got mine from Ireland lol.

I personally use the edge double sided pads for my PC. Have you ever tried them, and what's your opinion on them?

I love the Edge pads. I prefer them over Lake Country pads all day.

The Edge pads are not made for the PC, the vibrations makes the bearings in the adapter fall apart.

They are horrible for the rotary IMO. The only thing I like about them is the centering idea of them. I get MUCH MUCH better results with a LCC pad. If you look at the REAL PROFESSIONALS in the UK, no one uses Edge products.

I had every Edge product when it came out, now I have NONE.
