How to divorce a Cobb V2

I am picking up a used Cobb for my '08 335i today. Most ads I have seen tout the device as being "unmarried". In the event that the device I pick up is still hitched, how do I get a quick, easy, uncontested divorce? I already pay my lawyer enough... and may wind up paying him more if my wife finds out I bought the thing... not to mention my planned purchase of DP's and FMIC...

You or the seller would have to connect the Cobb Accessport to the car that the Accessport is "married to" and select the option to uninstall using the Accessport.

The uninstall process for v2 is shown in the video linked below:

Thanks!!!

Is there a way to tell if it has been done by looking at the unit? I am buying locally, so I can inspect it before dropping the cash.

Ship it to me and I'll let you know...j/k. When you connect the Accessport to your car and you go through the options there should be an option to install the software. Follow the instructions below for install and just start the install in front of the seller if you want. The install does take a while since it has to back up your car's original software so make sure your car's battery is charged. Initial back and install takes around 40 minutes if I remember correctly.

See vid below for installation instructions:

Thanks, Silver...

Here's the rub. I just found out that the unit is not unmarried. The car it was in was wrecked and is unavailable.

Is there a way around this?

youve got to send it to COBB and pay a fee.
I wouldnt waste your time with it
not sure what the fee is but it likley isnt worth your while.
Cobbs go for about $450 these days (i just sold one).
Everyone advertising $500+ arent selling.
I didnt get any bites at $500 at all

Cobb wants $400. Looking like JB4. Why you can't resell something you own without an outrageous fee is beyond me.

thats not the issue.
they dont want 10 cars getting flashed from the same device.
thats why u can only flash 1 car at a time.
since the car was totaled i assume the ODB2 port couldnt communicate with the DME to unmarry.
most people wouldnt even try to sell an married device.
