Denver Dealer?

Hi Everyone,

I was wanting to get some opinions on what dealer they would recommend here in Denver as I haven't worked with any Sales Associates here yet.

I plan on placing an ED order for the new M4 this summer/fall; if any one has a recommended SA I would greater appreciate it!

From what I've found, it looks like both Gebhardt and Schomp are comfortable with mild mods?

Rick @ Schomp is a great sales guy. Not super pushy and will bend over backwards to make sure you find what you're looking for.

Service Adviser? Melissa @ Murray hasn't screwed me over yet and neither has Mike @ Schomp.

I used Ben Uher at Murray for a CA. Great guy, but not sure how Murray works these days since they were bought out.

For an SA, all the advisors I used at Murray left after they were bought out....

I always liked Billy Lindauer for a SA. He appreciates our cars and will be honest with you when it comes to mods. He used to be at Murray, but ran into him last time I was at Schomp. He apparently made the move last year.

That's good to know! Billy was my SA, and he was a great one. Guess I will be going to Schomp from now on. Definitely go to him if he is there now.

Try CO's in Ft Collins/Loveland. It will be worth the drive. Ask for Brian Bowden CA, he is the one to talk to.

Schomp's your just a number in their high volume game. Murray is in turmoil after being bought out, they are not locally owned anymore.

Thumbs up

Thanks! I'll try the two contacts you guys listed. Funny enough Loveland is closer to me since I work in Broomfield. Previous to starting this thread, I tried calling up Gebhardt but they brushed me off so they've lost my business.

+1 for billy also, he's great and will take care of you.
I hope schomp is better than Murray because I'm happy to tell a million billion horror stories about working with them.
If you read a single issue of auto week you're now more informed than any SA that has ever worked there. (Well maybe except Billy)

I purchased my car for E.D. delivery back in 2008 from Gebhart in Boulder. Internet sales guy Kory has done E.D. himself and was no nonsense on pricing. Schomp would not honor the E.D. pricing and didn't seem interested. Call Kory.

Anyone know how friendly Billy is with mods?

Going in monday to see if I can get my turbos replaced under warranty. I'm hoping if I flash it back to stock he shouldn't have any heartburn with what I've got installed. Not holding my breath but I've got the turbo siren sounds at low speed with a cold engine and the wastegates are starting to rattle off throttle. Been doing this since I installed my DCI's so I know it isn't related to the tune but I'm sure the extra boost isn't helping.

same here its so annoying! i took it to murray on saturday for an oil change and they told me that i didnt need one because i still had 7k miles left (dont like the thought of an oil change every 15k miles) found out i had extended maintenance so they changed the wipers... waste of an hour and a half when i asked about the siren he said that it happens and its nothing to worry about and that everything looked fine... cant get over they didnt change my oil lol

Its not just Murray that wouldn't change your oil before the time when it needs one. They will have to bill bmw and bmw won't pay for an early oil change. Murray or anyone else would be happy to change your oil if you pay out of pocket.

Also, when I took mine in for turbos replacement, I was told the insignificant turbo siren was acceptable. I got mine replaced anyways because of the waste gate rattle though. But, had to pay 2,xxx at first cause they thought they could adjust the wastegates, which they ended up refunding my money

Not gonna say if billy is friendly or not when it comes to modded cars, but all I'm going to say is he's the awesomeness out of all I've dealt with between Murray, schomp, and gebhardt. My advice is to take all your mods off

Not taking the FMIC, DCI's or the CP out. It's just not happening. lol If they seriously want to look at mods that aren't related to turbo failure and say "we aren't covering them" then that's fine by me. But I sure as f$#& won't pay them to put OEM shit turbos in to replace OEM shit turbos. That's just dumb. I'll put the $2000-3000 towards RB's or Vargas Stage 2's before that ever happens.

I'm not holding my breath for them to say they will replace them under warranty. If Billy says they need to be replaced but says I'm coming out of pocket to replace them, there's no way I'm authorizing that. Not when I can upgrade for a few hundred more.

I can see your point, I wasn't expecting the amp to be fixed at all and planned on paying, my feelings on the topic are this...If the mod you did directly causes the failure your having then you shouldn't expect anything under warranty. As in my case, bad fitting caused the leak, my fault my problem. I think that if you install an exhaust and then a week later your heated seats go out, the dealer has to use some common sense and judgement and realize the 2 are completely un-related and warranty the seat. If he voids your warranty after you bring it in, he's not only pissed you off but now his dealership has lost you as a customer who may have bought 2-4-6-8 more cars in their life depending on your age and income. My family owns 3 Harley-Davidson dealerships and we deal with the mod issues daily... and if you know Harleys, the only ones that are stock are the ones in the crates still.

^not the point I was trying to make. My point is, you don't point out the "kindness" of your dealership online as bmw might find out and your dealership/SA might get in trouble. That's what happened to Murray.

I agree with your comment re: dealerships should use common sense. But it is their job to make bmw aware of mods you add to your car and void the warranty.
