REVIEW: JB2H + 93 octane

well, its finally done, today I finished installing my first tune! I received the JB2 + H and I can't remove the perma grin off my face!

I have to say that I am very impressed thus far running out in 50 deg temps and on only 93 octane...the car pulls, pulls and wants to pull some more. I know that the ECU has not adapted 100% but damn it goes now! I did my fair share of research and looked at all options for my first tune. I knew that I only wanted to crack the 300+ rwhp realm and I got what I wanted. Sure, there are different flavors for everyone, there are also different options to go along side your selected tune. I pretty much have made up my mind that I only need 93 pumped in and will keep everything else stock (for now ).

With this being my plan, I have to give it to JB for bringing the pure enjoyment of driving my 335 again! Not that it ever left, but simply that enjoyment has doubled itself. The low end and top end is ridiculuos and since DME hasn't got used to it yet (only driven 30 miles) I can only imagine what is in store for me next. The car is silky smooth and to be honest, I believe it feels even better (throttle response, power range, torque range) than before. I was experiencing an issue for weeks with rough idle which BMW already has looked at twice but couldn't pinpoint the cause or offered a solution. With this tune that rough idle deal is GONE to my pleasant surprise

I baseline stock at 250 rwhp and I expect per JB's numbers that I am somewhere around 330 rwhp now - boy do I feel it for real. I can't wait to dyno at the same place in coming month to really put the tune to the test. But for me it has never been about getting the most ponies to brag about. It has been all about driveability and power on demand if needed while maintaining all the realiability the car already offered. I believe one "H" pill will be good enough to enjoy for many months. I also feel confident that come summer time I will have no issues with limp mode, codes, etc. IF you mod with a good plan in hand and don't start to go all nutz with adding this and that I believe anyone can achieve extraordinary success while maintaining a safe and reliable car! Another true wonder is that I didn't break the bank! I got what I was looking for all under $400!!!!

I know people have doubts about a particular tune and we have all been guilty of flaming someone for going in a particular direction. But the fact remains that we are all entitled to choose what we think is best for our enjoyment and driving experience. I was on the boards for weeks if not months trying to decide which route I would take. I am glad I got feedback from everyone and looked at all options out there before going this route. I can only say that this was a good decision thus far and have no beef with anyone else for taking any direction the take. I do want to thank everyone for keeping their experiences on the forums! It helped me come up with my plan to tune as I thought best.

In conclusion, the JB2H is nothing but another alternative - simple. I am just impressed with this alternative and I highly recommend it to anyone who may be also thinking of going this route. You will not be dissappointed!

Good luck peeps!

btw- the installation was a breeze if you are mechanically handy, just needed an 8mm socket, flat head. I went the extra step and bought some heat shrink and heat gone to make all connections tidy and neat (highly recommend). all in all it took me an hour to install since it was my first try and wanted to take my time with everything.

Thanks for the review. The JB2H works very good (93 octane). It adds 55-60whp to your car.

Every car is different. However, you should have 325+ whp with JB2H and 93 octane.

I felt like that when I drove a 335 with SSTT.

The JBS2 sure is tempting!
